I have hard mounted a 100w solar panel to my roof rack. I have a duel battery set-up. The purpose of the duel battery is the auxillary battery runs all of my external power requirements: fridge, HAM, iPad, etc... The solar panel keeps the batteries topped off when I set up camp or am parked...

I will agree with @Disco2Guy. Winch would be first item. Remember the need for a secure mounting option. Locker on the front, really depends on what you do with your vehicle though.

I also use a Pelican case as a storage and tool carrier. I can say Im pretty much a minimalist in overlanding, with the exception of first aid, tools and recovery equipment. This is the one area I will not scimp on. Most of the times it not for me. But I have learned that you will always need...

I really like the trailer tailgate. Great use of space!

I only carry while on the trail. To much of an easy target to be a gas loaner if I carries full time.

Welcome to the FJ family! Just get out and see what you like to do. This will drive your purchasing choices. I would recommend some basic recovery gear, no matter what you like to do you will need it anyways. The key--HAVE FUN!
