As a retired Army infantryman, here is my take: they ride horrible, the seats suck, it is noisy, and maintenance is a nightmare. Oh and they drive horrible on the highway too. Other than that, they are great!

Yes, yes, yes! No shame in rock stacking, but fer gawds sake remove them so the rest of us can enjoy the challenge. Trails are starting to seem like cobblestone roads.

They work good in sand, mud, rocks, bridging... I do not go offroad without them. My truck is 8000lbs, plastic is useless as a traction aid for me.

Seemed to be a internal antenna problem. I had it less than a year. Called Garmin and they checked their end, all good, so REI swapped it for me. I did not do the updates, so that could have been an issue.

I have a Delorme Inreach. Works great until it doesn't. Mine failed in the middle of nowhere when I had told my wife I would check in. The new one works great, but I will be adding it to my list of things to check BEFORE I go out.

I highly recommend an app called Allstays. It was 10 bucks, but it paid for itself in a few days. We fulltime travel, and use it exclusively to find our campsites. It lists tons of dispersed camping areas in NF and other areas. It has a map with icons you can filter through, and when you choose...
I have no gps info, but if you have a very capable rig, I recommend Mengel Pass, Lippincott Pass, and Steel Pass. All 3 can be done in 4 days (I did less than 2 weeks ago). Be prepared, winter conditions are unpredictable there. I encountered 3 feet of snow, mud, and river crossings. I needed...
We had a Casita trailer. We lifted it 3 inches and put shocks and bigger tires on it. It fit in tent sites and we did hundreds of miles of dirt roads in it. We only got rid of it because we needed 4 season capability.

Thanks! I don't have a build thread, and don't really plan on doing one yet. I rarely have internet for my laptop so typing up all that I have done on my phone is a pain. I retired from the Army in August of '16, so my wife and I are now fulltiming with the wagon and travel trailer travelling...
People try to compare power wagons to raptors. They are totally different animals with totally different purposes. A wagon is not made for speed offroad. I use mine for overland and pull a travel trailer fulltime. In the right hands it will do things stock that stock jeeps struggle with. A...
If I had to start over I wouldn't have owned over 80 vehicles. There are only about 10 I should have kept. I really wanted a power wagon when they came out in 05, but never had the money. But between 05 and 2016 when I bought my 07 power wagon, I spent enough money on crappy rigs to buy 3 new...
I have probably wasted thousands on cheap gear over the years, only to have to replace it with better equipment after the cheap crap failed. The latest I can remember were Smittybilt tire deflators. They didn't even make it through one deflation on my power wagon. Bought ARB as soon as we got...
And what are your goals? Looks, performance offroad, bigger tires? Mudding, rock crawling, long distance overlanding, mall crawling? Minimal lift is usually best if you rock crawl and like keeping the shiny side up.

I have yet to need more duty cycle with mine airing up 35s to 50+ psi. It will run for something like 40 minutes straight.

Military trucks do just that. Works great. It does put a LOT of stress on equipment using that technique and should only be done as a last resort.
