A good day scouting trails behind the ranch. A clear and sunny sky was very welcome! Went up on a plateau and set up for lunch. Showed some of our great friends one of our favorite spots. They had a pretty great looking MRE...and we made some hot soup and tried our first dehydrated meal (chicken...
Dogs are always welcome at our events as long they get along with other dogs! The last couple years fire danger hasn't been bad enough for a fireworks ban. Dayville has not had fireworks for about 8 years now because we can't find a licensed fireworks person to hire to put on a show. I don't...
No cost at all. The first night at the ranch is a potluck dinner so bring/get a dish to share. The rest of the trip is through public lands so no permits required.
The trails will not be too aggressive. It is more about exploring and enjoying the wilderness together than testing our rigs. If I had an offroad trailer, I would fine bringing it.
Scouted the first leg of our journey last weekend! It was amazing. Stopped and hiked around this meadow to stretch our legs and found an old homestead. One of our favorite things to stumble across. Also this ENORMOUS (Ponderosa Pine?) tree was there. At least 120 feet tall.

With a 5 day weekend Thanksgiving was both fun and restful. We are so fortunate to have good food and good friends to share it with. We went up to a friends cabin and went sledding and had a HUGE bonfire, I'm talking 20ft flames at one point. Up next we have an old...
We have a 2001 4Runner (3rd gen). We got it brand new and it was the family rig and have put about 300k miles on it. It has lived a HARD life on our ranch and going up and down the 4x4 only 4low road to our mountain cabin as well as MANY long haul road trips down to Nevada and Arizona for...
Thank you for your time writing, uploading the pictures, and formatting this build-thread so well. This is truly an inspiration. You are welcome to camp at our ranch in Oregon anytime. Would be honored to meet and see this rig in person. Or check out our event next year and join! (July 4th...
I'm a bit confused by your response because my questions were directed to the Original Poster of this thread. Are you looking for a capable and dependable daily driver Scott? Or just sharing your situation?
My Overlanding Rig gets about 13.9 mpgs fully loaded and because of that it is strictly...
There are two options. You can get the one where you enter and exit the tent inside it. This is the one I have. Exactly the reason I got it so we wouldn't be exposed to the elements (or other campers) when we climbed down!
What mpg's do you consider to be "gas killer"? My 2001 4Runner with a lift and 32" tires made a great Overland rig (with an actual 4low transfer case) and got around 18-20mpgs. I thought that was pretty good. Maybe look into older Toyota's? Late 90s early 2000s?
