Next up was setting up and installing the Smittybilt Overlander 2783 Rooftop Tent I purchased back at Black Friday!
Setup of the Smittybilt was pretty straight forward and I must say, the quality and value of the tent have so far exceeded my expectations. I really like the included LED strip...
Happy to report excellent progress with the build.
Last week I dropped off the trailer to get the RTT rack built. Decided to go with some bent steel tube to keep it simple. The fabricator did an awesome job and used 1.5" .120 wall to make the U shapes going from front to rear. He then notched...

Guess it's time for an update. I bought a Smittybilt Overland RTT back around Black Friday when there was a smoking deal through 4WD.com
Yesterday I finally got a quote to have a rack built so I can mount it. Happy to say quote was a good price and I will be dropping off the deposit...
This is my trailer and the original idea I had.
After thinking about it more. I figured I might be able to simplify it by getting some steel tube bent into U shapes for each side of the trailer and then connecting them.
Obviously, I am missing out on a lucrative career doing CAD drawings haha
They're certainly great at what they do but it comes at a cost. I had them repair a motor mount years back and it was alsmot $400. Later talking about it with fellow offroarders I was told I got hosed on the price. Trying to avoid that exact situation lol
Looking for recommendations where to get a RTT rack built for my overland trailer.
Looking for cost effective options. Do not need any crazy fab work done.
Thanks
I picked up a Smittybilt Overlander RTT during Black Friday and am now getting ready to have a rack built on my Trailer to support it. I am considering doing it myself in which case I would need to keep it pretty basic.
I am thinking square tubing but not sure what size I would need.
Here is...

This happened this weekend. JK owner did check the depth and well, a pic is worth a 1,000 words. I wasn't able to get him out (As expected, but we gave it a try). He had to get a 4x4 recovery team out.
Since this wasn't a successful recovery, let's keep it going.
Weather seals for the lid is complete! Got a 48" door seal from Amazon for the rear of the trailer where the lid meets the tailgate. Fits like a charm.
Also put the bulkhead through the lid and added a spigot. This will allow me to mount the shower with the lid closed, but I can also get...
Haven't worked on the trailer in sometime, but finally got around to it this weekend with an upcoming trip in < 2 weeks.
The original bolt-on hinges I installed proved not be strong enough. The lid was leaning forward and the excess movement cause the mounts for the lift struts to fail. I...
