    You could use a repeater if one has echolink and you have permission to use it on echolink but it keeps everyone else from being able to use the repeater. You can just get on with the phone or computer and not with the radio. Either way is ok we have both attend

    Echolink is over the internet or cell depending on how and where you connect. There are repeaters that you can connect to the echolink node with repeater owner or trustee permission. Either way need call sign. Hope that helps

    I did misunderstand. I use the gaia topo, roadless areas and roads and trails the most. Then use NPS if in a Park, USFS if on forest service land etc. Sometimes I tryout a new one to see how I like the look but usually go back to top three. Hope that helps

    I use Gaia Pro and find I don't need anything else as long as I have downloaded the area ahead of time.
