Unlimited Self Sustained power!!! 2013 Tacoma High Output Alternator & Bluetti Charger1 install

Not at all, reverse even. The glowplug pulls a lot, to ensure a fast reliable start. And then the fuel pump and fan also. So on my 8kw Vevor, startup they can pull 120W-130W, 10-12A depending on 12v voltage. Then in about 4 to 6 minutes, glow plug turns off and it just uses 22W to 60W...

    House Power

Yah. I have stopped carrying my 450W of panels, totally not needed now. I have dcdc charger intended for powerstations, so output is boosted to 42V to allow fast charging through the mppt solar charge controller on powerstation. If going direct to LFP battery, then normal dcdc charger is...

Unlimited Self Sustained power!!! 2013 Tacoma High Output Alternator & Bluetti Charger1 install

You want the ETaker F1000 then. It has an input from alternator, and another one from solar. 500w alternator, 500W solar, 1000w total. Here it is: https://www.etakerpower.com/products/acecow-et300-portable-power-station?srsltid=AfmBOopF-5h8FdFA2gKCk6dHGAgspFPdGplkqTn1F9zjKZP0zz_BO4gP And...

Unlimited Self Sustained power!!! 2013 Tacoma High Output Alternator & Bluetti Charger1 install

@Thetimelesstaco Very nice! I have a 21 Tacoma, with a Tune popup topper, so pretty similar to you. I have the Pecron 500W car-charger, and Pecron e1500LFP. As you know, the Tacoma has very low payload, and I can't afford to cart around 60 lbs of panels I dont need or can't make use of, so I...

Unlimited Self Sustained power!!! 2013 Tacoma High Output Alternator & Bluetti Charger1 install

I'm a big solar fan, I read the diysolarforum.com vehicle mounted forum daily, I've got all that goodness on my truck camper... ... but solar is far from free! The panels are expensive, and the glass ones you should use are very heavy. Flexible ones don't seem to last long. They all create...

    Overland "Types?"

OP question reads like an AI trying to add to its answer base... nebulous questions intended to drive opinion rambling answers. I actually looked up the poster profile to see if he was an AI bot, or had a history of actual posts. He seemed legit. It is immaterial what the larger group of...

    Controlled drugs & full time

Kind of. I have a prescription that refills every 90 days. I use Walgreens. As you know, prescriptions are now specific to ONE STORE :( I sometimes want to switch between Walgreens though, sometimes for nearest, sometimes for a further 24hr one when I'm in town late only. All I do is call...

    Best overland rig with kids

Get the Sequoia or the Lexus. Another option I like better is a pickup with popup topper camper on back. Best setup for kids IMO. I would get a Tundra and the Tune camper in a perfect world.

    Offroad Recovery Gear Questions

I don't see this mentioned often. I do the same thing, a 15,000 lb come-along or manual winch from Harbor Freight. With a Tacoma and only 1100 total payload, I can't afford the winch and bumper weight! I have straps, traction boards, etc, just no winch.

    We have HEAT ☀️

Exactly this. Chinese diesel heaters will throw a low voltage error trying to pull startup watts from cigarette lighter. Their wires are also usually too thin and too long, causing voltage drop. Cut wires to min needed length and it helps a lot.

Pots and pans (and kettle?) - nesting, compact, not crazy expensive

The bane of cooking, and camp cooking in particular, is thin weak metal pans. And when you get a nesting set, they are almost always cheap thin metal. And made in shapes that are not good for cooking, prioritizing nesting over proper pan shapes. Because camp cooking has extremely poor...

    Tacoma trim selection

Don't believe those 1600 lb payloads!!! All the web shows that, but it's like one stripped down model only. If you walk around the lot and actually look at REAL DOOR STICKERS SHOWING REAL PAYLOAD, you'll see 1100 to 1250 lbs!! This is realllllly skosh for overlanding. My 21 Tacoma is 1105 lbs...

    Tacoma trim selection

If I was buying for offroad and overlanding, I absolutely would want a rear locker. IMO the rear locker is make or break for off road not getting stuck in sand, which I drive a lot. Additionally, the OffRoad and the Tow package give you a 130A alternator, vs the standard 90A on Tacoma... 90A...

    Claiming Dispersed Campsites

All the USNF I have ever been to camping, which are AZ, NM, CO, UT, the actual dispersed camping rules are extremely clear: first come, set up, it's yours. Posting a sign is BS and means nothing. The allowed places are explicitly shown on the Motor Vehicle Use Maps, with allowed roads within...

    Arizona Camping Suggestions

Well it's nice to see an AZ thread... even if this one has been dead for 6.9 years, and the OP Chill hasn't visited site for 3.5 years... good effort lol. Made me read to see where "here" was, Four Peaks Wilderness area, kinda large area to avoid because of stray rounds possibilities. But I saw...

Did Top Gear/Grand Tour Inspire a Generation of Overlanders?

Never watched Top Gear. Maybe saw a few minutes of it once, looked like a bunch of old guys chasing after midlife crisis red sports cars. Zero interest. Didn't look at all like a camping, outdoor, overlanding show, from what I saw any time I happened across ot while browsing...

PECRON 500W Smart Car Charger, In Depth tests!

This charger is a dc2dc or alternator charger, but is intended for use soecifically with a PowerStation rather than just a battery. It has the output voltage boosted to 42V to allow rapid charging of PowerStation through the solar input ports. This sort of alternator charger is becoming common...

TESTED: Induction cooking, energy to reheat one meal

From prior posts: has a smaller link on the video that says "watch on youtube", click on that. I'm not letting my videos play embedded anymore, because then people cant/don't read allllllll the info given in the video description, and end up asking or commenting on stuff I already typed right on...
