Installed the new Fire Ring cb radio cable today, and wow what a difference! Works great with the low profile mount, and the SWR is perfect across the board now!
First, took the rig for a little explore yesterday of a section (160 acres) of crown land near my house, and found an epic little camp spot.
Then today, I installed the new Fire Ring cable I got for my CB radio setup. WAY better with the low profile mount, and the SWR is perfect across the...
This is an outstanding project! As you can see by my avatar, although I now drive a V8 dodge Dakota, I have a soft spot for tiny off roaders.
I am extremely jelly as we can't buy these sweet little 4x4's in NA :( I love everything about this build, especially the fold down rear table and the...
Small update: Had the truck in the shop last week to get an oil and filter change, transmission oil change and replace the shift solenoid at the same time. They also found and repaired a small leak in the transmission cooler hose, which must account for why the fluid was low previously. Truck...
Some more thoughts on the discussion here, and on the poll results so far.
Street tires for offroading - Can you do it and get away with it? Yes, but just because you can doesn't mean you should. If you're sticking to graded FSR's or extremely light tracks, you can probably get away with it...
Absolutely, without a doubt, it's tires, even without a lift. Street tires are absolute garbage off road, while a good set of A/T or M/T tires will massively improve the vehicle's capability and resilience on off road terrain.
I've seen similar boxes designed for contractors that at least in terms of form and function are very similar, but much heavier I'm sure as they're made of metal, and also not modular like this system.
Looking awesome! Some very nice additions to the rig. Those Leitner boxes are pretty slick, but kinda pricey. I imagine they're fairly light weight as well, though, which is a benefit vs similar boxes you can get.
I know this is a bit of an old topic, but it's so intriguing that I would love to see some kind of progress on it.
I've moved to Alberta last year, so my ability to participate in this venture is significantly limited, however it just occurred to me that if such a track were ever created, it...
So, I had checked the transmission fluid after having the problem I had, but it was in direct sunlight and it was difficult to see exactly where the mark was - I thought it was okay, somewhere in the middle of the range between hot and cold.
Well, I took the truck to the mechanic today, and...
I'm really curious what it is with mine. Everything functions just fine, goes in and out of 2wd, 4wd and 4lo just fine.
Also, even though mine seemed to pass the basic test for chain slackness, I watched a video today of a guy whose NP231 was behaving exactly like mine, same sounds and...
Yeah, you've got a good point there! Could well be blessings in disguise.
I do hope the transmission issue isn't a fatal or exceptionally expensive one. I was really hoping that input shaft sensor would do it, but for $40 it's not a big deal to have swapped in a new one.
I think I will have to...
