If you're asking for adventures near Montrose, you're in one of the best places in the country.
There are no shortage of high mountain trails to the south of you and you also have quick access to the rimrocker trail which takes you over to Moab.
Thanks so much for spearheading this, Aleem!
CORE is an amazing organization and we should support them at every opportunity.

We will view this as one of the trail run options for those that are interested in helping. Otherwise, I will remain available Trail...
I asked about group size because it will be way easier to find camping spots for two trucks versus five. I very much like what you're doing by moving along and camping in a new place every night, but whenever I'm leading a group of any size we always end up playing it safe with a pre-planned...
You are quite welcome.
I just revisited your schedule to refresh my memory. It's that very first section you're planning on the first day that is the hardest of anything you have listed.
A couple of very important things to keep in mind, it can sometimes be difficult to find camping for long...
The main loop of engineer and cinnamon passes shouldn't be a problem. However, the section of engineer (aka Mineral Creek) that runs from the Million Dollar Hwy over to the intersections near Animas Forks can be significantly more challenging. To be more specific, if I recall correctly, the...
Also, that very first section of engineer will be the hardest section you have on your list. It is not maintained to the degree that the last half of engineer and cinnamon is. I encourage you to keep an eye on all the status pages for its current conditions.
I highly recommend taking California to hurricane to corkscrew since it is so close. It is very scenic and since it's not quite as hard you can move at a faster pace. There's also Imogene pass that's always at the top of my list if you have time.
I will certainly be updating it as time draws nearer. Just keep your eyes on this thread and if you're really interested in all the last minute chatter there's the telegram group.
I realize it seems like you're lacking details and you are probably correct. When Overland bound had regional...
This will be free, dispersed camping. The four Mile travel management area has a great deal of such dispersed camping.
Our biggest concern is getting something big enough for all of us. Hopefully we can get somebody there early enough in the week to grab our spot. We have two different areas...
Also, when are you planning to do this trip? Don't underestimate how freaking hot it might be. I've been out there in the summer before when it was hard to sleep at night because it was still so warm.
If I recall correctly, there are a few dispersed sites after Hurrah Pass as you get towards the end. Check the Overland bound map and trailsoffroad.com if you haven't already.
We usually have enough vehicles that we break into groups based on interest and skill level. Worst case you could ride along with someone. My passenger seat is normally available.
You should love most of the trails inside the Four Mile Travel Mgmt Area.
Perhaps I should just change that. There are all sorts of trails out there. Barring a flash flood, you should be able to get the base camp in two wheel drive. We will find something that suits your skill and comfort level.
It'll be great to have you. Be sure to RSVP if you haven't already.
I'm running a full size truck with a stock suspension if that makes you feel any better. I usually disconnect my sway bars when I get there, however.
