    Has Overlanding Become Trendy?

Has overlanding become trendy? I think so, likely more people say they do it than actually do. Not to take away from the movement, there are a ton of people who actually get out on the road, or as the emblem on my car says "Outfit & Explore." I don't want to say that there are those that get...

    What is overlanding to you?

Overlanding to me? Wow, I could go on and on, but I'll keep it short. For me it started when I was an infant, so for the last 48 years! I obviously don't recall much of the first couple trips, but I digress. As a family we car camped, but it is still overlanding by the definition I go by --...

    Roof Rack Loading

The last thing you want when you setup the kitchen is to get bug guts on your hands when opening the case. Depending on how long that first day is, squished bugs may be my protein for dinner that first night![emoji15]

    Roof Rack Loading

Hey, all! Have what may seem like an unimportant question, but I just want to make certain I am thinking of things right. I am just wrapping up building my own roof rack and wanted to obtain a bit of advice from anyone who is willing to share. The rack I have is 5.5 feet long by 4 feet wide. As...

    Overland tunes

Wow, depends on mood and type of road. Highways have some good tempo driving music; mountains will be a bit more "big"; dirt roads, depends. What I listen to is: Joe Bonamassa Doobie Brothers Supertramp Kansas Journey REO Foreigner Genesis Rush Led Zeppelin Def Lepard Lynard Skynard Scorpions...

    Solar hot water tank prototype

Looks well done! I'd be curious about the temp, too. I know it isn't going to be super hot by any means, but as long as it can get warmish, that would be good. A project on my list.

    This movement is exploding!!

Couldn't agree more! And on the downside, the forum has made me realize how good a vehicle my Jeep ZJ was...I love my WK, but now I wish I still had the ZJ[emoji53] Sent from my iPad using Overland Bound Talk

    This movement is exploding!!

It is growing really fast! I joined back in October and am #2167. Likely one of the best forums for Overlanding. Everyone seems to be so friendly and helpful here and it's just really great! Corrie and Michael have done a spectacular job with everything as we all know. Sent from my iPad using...

    Excursion to...Nowhere??

But if you read it differently, you aren't "No Where" but instead you are "Now Here!" You know, instead of there, you're here![emoji23] Sent from my iPad using Overland Bound Talk

It's been awhile since last road trip...

McNally's?! Home of the 40 oz Porterhouse? And the lake isn't too far from capacity at this point.

It's been awhile since last road trip...

Lake Isabella was high! Not up to capacity, but high, maybe 15 feet under full. I hear that they are going to raise the dam a bit, too. Don't know if that will come to fruition due to the Oroville problems -- I know it wasn't a dam failure issue, but people will panic about failure...

It's been awhile since last road trip...

Finally, after a long time, about 6 months or so, I finally got to get away from home and do a little traveling. So this past weekend, headed to the southern part of the state and cruised from the Bay Area, through Bakersfield, through Tehachapi and then headed north to Red Rock Canyon. Last...

    Looking for GoPro mic recommendation

Ok, so I did my little test comparing the GoPro Hero 5 Sessions internal mic vs the Rode microphone for the iPhone. In this, the Rode won pretty easily. In shooting video with DSLR cameras, I found that the audio recording on the cameras I had were never that great, ok, but not great. So I got...

    Looking for GoPro mic recommendation

Right now, my preferred audio recording app on iPhone is Voice Memos. I can toss it in to Garage Band on my Mac and clean it if necessary or maybe not. Let me do a couple quick tests and I'll get back to you with results and post it here. It's fun stuff to work with. One of the most important...

What Did You Do With Your Rig Today?

This is perfect! I've got a Jeep WK also and I've been semi-looking around, but now I'm sold. Thanks for sharing!

    Looking for GoPro mic recommendation

One method I went with was a lav mic for my iPhone. Just plug it in, drop the phone in your pocket, do your stuff and then in production, combine the audio track with video. I found this method to be far better than using a lav mic connected directly to my DSLR as its audio circuitry was rather...
