    Planning a trip to Moab

I love Moab country but it's become such a damn zoo that I avoid it more often than not these days. Then, I'm not a wheeler or have any interest in running trails so, other than Arches, little there interests me anymore. And talk about a zoo - Arches. Sigh. We're loving our parks to death...

    Storing eggs

If I understand correctly, eggs in Britain and Europe come from vaccinated (for salmonella) hens. The US doesn't do that and refrigerating eggs is something we need to do here to keep the incidents from salmonella in check.

People with stomach problems, how do you cope on long trips?

I don't suffer from those problems but one rule is inviolate - always carry a portable toilet. I keep the porta-potti that came with my van in it and a Pett in my LX. I also keep baby wipes on hand for more that tp might accomplish.

What do you do for water?

What do I do for water? Depends on which rig and where I'm headed. I use the 4 gallon Reliance in the van. While he van has a 12g water tank, I never use it so I don't have to waste time sanitizing it before each trip and the Reliance fits in the sink while underway. I take a Scepter...

    Camp Stove

OP, why do you want to replace your Triton? What doesn't it do that you want or need? I've got the previous version of this stove and feel it does everything well. However, most of my camp cooking is heating water for coffee or the occasional Mountain House if I want a hot meal. My van has a...

    Why #vanlife Sucks

Over the decades, I've done three long trips with only the second one where our rig was our only home. I spent a month in 1980 when I 29-30 living out of my little pick-up with a camper shell and old school carpet kit. Traveled California and Utah, mostly. Then, in 1992, my wife and I sold...

    Coffee Set Ups

I do the same. Melitta pour over into a 20 oz Yeti mug. Coffee is always San Francisco Bay French roast, freshly ground at home.

What do you use to store all your gear?

I carry very little gear for my solo 2-3 day trips. I've got a Plano cargo box, a duffel bag, and a Yeti cooler. The rest is as you see it.

    Best state for overlanding?

Any of the PNW or RMW is great. Washington will offer much. Idaho sucks, attempt no landings here. ;)

    Too complicated /too expensive

I'm a big KISS fan. I started as a backpacker in the late 60's and drove a Beetle. I car camped with the Beetle, later, a Cougar XR-7, then a Mazda 618, and finally, a '79 Plymouth Arrow pick-up with a Bel-Air topper and carpet kit. On all those trips, it was just my internal frame pack...

    Anza Berrego trip

Haven't been since the early 80's when I lived in SoCal. It's "Borrego" as the sign pictured in your first post shows but that doesn't detract from your great photos. It's a very cool place.

    GVWR?

The only time I've ever really been concerned was matching a truck to a camper or fiver. I often travel alone and pack light in my LX or van so weight issues have yet to be a concern. But with hauling or towing, it's critical, IMO, to pay attention to the numbers.

    Storing eggs

As I only go out for a night or two, I use the 6-pack egg Coughlan container. Keep 'em at the top of my cooler. In my van, which has a vertical Norcold fridge, I just keep them in their original container. I'm usually out for a few nights in that rig so I live a bit more civilized than in my LX.
