    Overland Gear

Food, eating, sleeping gear, drinking, going to the toilet, everything else is optional. Take what you have and go out for a night or two. The more you go, the more you will know what you want.

    Electric powered overland vehicle

Only problem I see with your math is that you don’t drive all day every day. So sitting eating lunch just gained you 22 miles, parked camping for a couple days on the beach just got you significantly more. Not saying this is a panacea for EV woes, but worth exploring, even if it makes it equal...

    12v Camp Lighting

If there are so many threads about strings of lights that you feel like banging your head on the wall, maybe you could post some up. I found none.

You can also carry a generator if need be. Not the most efficient set up, but it can extend range. I am curious as to how much difference solar panel could make for range, and if it is even possible to charge from them directly.

    12v Camp Lighting

Well, I did, and that is what I came up with. It has 120vac input and 12vdc output, which is where I was thinking about cutting the cord.

Thinking About Renting Out My Overland Trailer.

Just remember, a liability release is virtually worthless, because, as a citizen of the US of A you cannot sign away your rights, and litigation is one of those rights.

    12v Camp Lighting

Appreciate the help. Apparently my google fu is not strong on this subject. I am looking for the cafe/bistro style string lights that have a light every 3’ or so and come in a 48’ length.

    12v Camp Lighting

I have recently built a power station to use with my refrigerator, and have found it exceedingly handy. I have been want to put up some 12v lighting in my semi permanent camp to run off of my power station. I have seen strings that are 120v input, 12vdc output, which I assume have a built in...

    Crazy people?

Wow, you guys bring a rig and a trailer? We just hitch a ride to the forest boundary and walk in, …naked.

    Phoenix Meetup

Well, there are 3 of us so far. Let’s pick a date. Initially I was thinking a breakfast meet up. There is a restaurant called Eggstasy off of Happy Valley and I-17. It is fairly unpopulated until 9am, so if we were to meet up there, say at 8 it wouldn’t be difficult to all park in the same area...

I am up north of Phoenix. I would be interested in meeting up. How many of us are there?

    OB Approved Recovery

I am surprised how many here want to dig the rigs out and use anything but a winch. I use my winches a lot, but my Rigs are working vehicles. It is a lot less effort to winch somebody out than it is to dig them out. Granted, I am heavier than most, so it makes it easier. It is a rarity to see a...

    Decision Help Requested

It sounds like the FJ no longer meets your needs, buy the Tundra, sell the FJ, pay a bulk of the money toward the Tundra, and use a chunk of it for the upgrades that you really want.

    How to carry propane tank

Sorry, it is not safe to carry inside the vehicle. Directly from the manufacturer, “Propane containers should only be stored in vehicles with a vented storage locker; do not store the Gas Growler or other propane container in your trunk or sealed car.”
