Finally found a lift for the van! $399 USD and it gives me 3” of lift!! Basically it’s a set of modified front struts and spring spacers for the rear. From what I’ve seen the only issue is that you have to disconnect your front sway bar and delete it. Now to ponder about that...I do a crap load...
So... it's been a little while since I last posted about the build. Winter sucks btw, haven't done anything to the van except constantly washing the salt off of it. I've had to go back to the drawing board regarding the lift for the van as my 1st attempt only gained me 1/4" lift in the front. I...
So I'm not the only one overloading with a Caravan! 2015 Dodge Grand Caravan running KO2's, K&N filter, Roof Rack w/ 384 watt Light Bar, Bearcat 880 CB Radio & more to come...
I've lived in Southern Ontario (GTA) my entire life and have always wanted to do a trip to the North, not just anywhere but to where the road ends. It's been a trip I think about quite often and I am putting the wheels in motion now to complete this journey on a week holidays in 2019. Attached...
That’ll be the project over the cold slow winter months, combing through web page after web page comparing strut part numbers and specs. There has to be something out there...
So, the lift didn’t go as planned today. I should have seen this coming but anyway it is what it is. So the springs on the van are obviously made for ride comfort and that means the springs coils aren’t all that wound close to each other. The 1” spacers gave me only about 1/4” if that of height...
Listening to it right now while planning our trip to Florida. If only I had enough time off of work I would skip out on I75 and slowly fall down through the states on the Old Dixie Highway.
Another new addition to the van. Keeps the bugs and rain out while allowing ventilation while sleeping in the back. A lot less weight than a RTT as well. One for each side for a cross breeze. Fingers crossed I can find the time this weekend to put in my spring spacers as well.
Awesome build and good to see another who is taking a fwd and making it an overlander! Check out my build: https://www.overlandbound.com/forums/threads/not-your-typical-overland-rig-2015-dodge-grand-caravan.18083/page-2#post-258002
The Geolanders look great, how do they preform? I was going to...
CB Install DONE, it almost fit into a storage bin in the dash, only minor cutting required. The antenna is my issue now, I have a tuned K-30 but I don't like its location. I was hoping to mount it to my rack but it's not actually grounded to the van through the factory rails & I'm not about to...
Thanks PePe! I’ve heard through the grapevine that this is protected ground and they don’t even want you walking too far off the trails. Hiking and camping are fine but no driving. Look up Ardbeg Ontario for overlanding
For those of us that don’t have much of or any extra disposable income how do you fund your expeditions and your rigs needs? For me it has been collecting scrap and hauling stuff for people. This was good for the last couple years but it’s quickly drying up and the prices of scrap have fallen...
