Hey,
I am looking for a good trust worthy automotive repair/fab shop than can cut some brackets off my frame rails and weld in some flat plates in their place.
I would like the shop to be in the San Fernando valley area but happy to go other places in LA if they fit what I need better...
I was skeptical too and that's why I didn't buy a condensation mat. If I do another cold/wet trip later this year I will just try and find some rubber matting from home depot. or simular.
That's and absolute bargain! I didn't get any snow maybe a little sleet but it was was 26-38ºF most nights of that trip and even when it didn't rain the bottom the mattress was quite wet but the top and sides was dry.
I don't find the thickness of the mattress is problem, it's the firmness. I...
I will add my 2c to this discussion.
After many years of just using a small back packing ground tent(Currently a Big Agnes Copper Spur HV) I got a Tepui Ayer Explorer last November. 92% of the time I travel totally alone, I try to go quick, light and minimalist as possible.
A few reasons I...
Montana de Oro being a State Park you have to camp in the camp grounds, which are a bit back from the beach, no dispersed camping.
Pismo Beach is the only camp on the sand, beach camping in California and its just down the road from SLO. Pismo can get very busy and noisy because of all the...
I also don't know how I forgot as i'm actually reading the book right now but the Mojave Road Guide has lot of the stuff as well with a HUGE amount of history of the area, extremely interesting read. Amazon Link
For some reason I didn't record it on Gaia so I am just going off photo time stamps. I did Point Sublime Rd from just north of the visitors centre, which is the quickest but hardest way but still easy compared to a lot of trails, I did it all in 4HI. I also stop a lot to take photos and when I...
I did GC early July last year. For free rim camping Timp Point north to Parrisawampitts Point has campsites most points from memory. Further north Crazy Jug Point to Bill Hall(FR292A) has some pull outs off the road for dispersed camping. To camp right on the rim in the national park(Point...
I was in Palm Spring for work and had 4 day off after and thought to do a quick trip to see the craziness that is the Salton Sea and Joshua Tree NP as I was already out that way. It was mostly sealed road but I thought I would share it anyways. Click any of the photos to enlarge them.
I started...
Depends on your rack and tent.
I have a Tepui Ayer, Frontrunner Slimline II rack, Frontrunner RTT brackets and it takes 10min to take on/off with 2 people.
As other people have said IOverlander, I use this mainly for more boon docking and side of road/trail hideouts, a lot of the spots on there the can be illegal or are for vanners so like walmart carparks.
Ultimate Campgrounds is great because it has the most national park, national forest, state...
