Little project for Susan, building a center console to hold water bottles and store stuff. I will also mount a 12V socket and the HAM radio with an extra mic clip for the CB. I'm not a carpenter but I think it's ok so far. More to come!
Welcome! The local group has monthly meetings (Next Wed in fact) and there is usually something going on trip wise once a month too. If you can make it the meeting next month that would be awesome, always good to have more in the community!
Nice setup! There is another George in lower Idaho with an awesome Full Size Jeep. I don't think he's on here, but search Youtube for his channel SW Idaho Overlanding he does some great trips all over the place!
Started working on a center console storage box cupholder for Susan. Dont need the third seat up front, do need a place to stash water bottles and store stuff. Will include a 12v socket and run the power for the HAM as well.
I've got an '18 Trailhawk as my DD. I run 265/65 Coopers with no lift, no rub at all. I have a Hazard Sky lift that I need to put on at some point. I do not like the Wilco carrier either, mostly because its stupid expensive. I literally bought both my other Jeeps combined for less than it...
I...
Day trip to Tunnel Camp and the 7 Troughs mining district with Sierra Nevada Full Size Jeep Club. Highlights include the ghost town of Tunnel Camp, the town site of Vernon, the town site of 7 Troughs, and the town site of Mazuma. There are also large herds of wild Burros in the area. Picnic...
Been a long time since I updated! Been working on the fuel system and general maintenance. I was able to add some new features on Susan to help in the desert. New fold out awning, cheap amazon version, so we shall see how it holds up. Look ok to me as long as you're careful.
A leaky Jeep, no way! What kind of hose is it? Is it a vent or vacuum you can use whatever size rubber line that works if there's not a sensor or something in it. It's probably a vent or the collection point for the PCV. I have Rough Country springs on my big Cherokee and I can vouch that the...
Nice Looking Cherokee! Are you Northern or Southern CA? We have a Northern CA/NV facebook group if you're interested for more FSJ Goodness. All good points about the Full Sizes. I have the Rough Country lift and its not super bad for me, but I also upgraded to much better shocks. The Quadratrac...
I've seen lots of people use that plasti dip spray paint but you have to clean the surface pretty good or it doesn't stick well. I'm not too knowledgeable on the XJs but generally I'd say replace the wearable parts since you got the wheels out of the way. Never hurts to replace the fluid either...
Yup definitely an invite! I know the pain of real life keeping me away from adventures so glad you are able to get back to it. I'll be at the meeting in Sept after rebuilding the fuel system for like the 4th time.
Hey nice XJ! I see you're down in G-ville, have you made it up for any of the Reno Overlanding group's events? They meet 2nd Wed of each month at Famous Dave's BBQ.
