Thank you very much for the information.
I also agree GMRS seems to be much better for trail use then CB. Hopefully these new radios will spark an interest.

Was going to put it next to the trail rated badge but then got inspired by this thread. I love the idea of it being on the back of the truck then we can spot each other easily.

I would love to hear some ideas I'm open to anything. I knew it would go though the fiberglass, but there is still roll cage, spare tire, and people that it will have to go though in different directions.
I'm also open to another antenna, I just couldn't find much info on mobile GMRS antenna...
Just picked up a Midland MXT115 from my local Cabelas. Quickly installed it in the JK but I'm very happy with it, will hardware it once spring comes here in Chicago.
Need to get out there now and test it. Went GMRS mostly because I already have 4 Talkabouts and wanted to keep in the same...
I love my Rubi. I did go with the 3.73 as I don't plan on going up to 35's anytime soon. I have to say I don't find myself wanting 4.10's and enjoy the extra few MPG.
It's my third Wrangler and by far the most comfortable one yet. 01TJ and 06LJ were my last two. Should have never sold the LJ...

Materials Used:
1 4x8 3/4 Birch plywood from Menards
1 4x8 1/2 Birch plywood from Menards
2 Quarts Kilz Primer
1 Quart Valspar Duramax...
All the good overland series have been mentioned. I'm going to throw out DC's Arrow. Lots of episodes and a pretty good watch.

Ha yes I know the acronym isn't the greatest...or is it.
Anyway my plan is to head up it solo with a buddy. We are new to this overlanding thing and it looks like a great "trail" to test out the Gear. A lot of pavement and gravel with a few fire roads mixed in.
Vader_Runner Thank you for...
Does anybody have the overland route for the TWAT? You used to be able to get it from here: http://www.lonewolfexpeditions.com/twatgps.html but the site currently isn't working. I had it downloaded for a little while but stupid me deleted it thinking I could just redownload it when I needed it...
I just went though a similar debate but a new 4 runner vs a new JKU.
Needless to say there is a new JKU Rubi in my driveway. It is my 3rd Jeep though Jeep Blood runs deep in my veins. Either one will be a great truck and take you many great places.
For me it came down to: "It's a Jeep thing...
Following as we are trying to get out there Mid August:) leaving from Chicago going to try and catch the Badlands and Black Hills also.
