2002 Mitsubishi Montero Limited Overland Build

So I got the hitch installed and then put in the rear skid plate/tow point/step. The skid plate comes down under the hitch pretty flush so at least it will protect the rear bumper. I also need to find these damn body clips to put the rear bumper fascia back on. 5 of the 6 were broke and it was...

2002 Mitsubishi Montero Limited Overland Build

This week just did a few things. New front O2 sensor, offset winch fairlead, new fan clutch, replaced the original power mirrors that were not working with these black ones which tie in the bumper and wheels and a bit of a history lesson with that front euro plate. Dakar 12/0. Just a fun item...

    91 Montero Ls v8 Swap

I was just talking about this upgrade if the stock motor ever took a crap. I'm doing a fully built LS in my BMW e46 M3 currently and thought, a 5.3/4L60 would be great in a Monty.

First recovery in the new rig

Yes, the snatch strap can stretch about 20% or so. That is why you can get a running start for a pull with minimum shock to the vehicles.

First recovery in the new rig

The Kinetic straps are new in the last few years. I'm not sure about how long they last but from what I watched on some 4wd shows, if you start to see the usual signs of ba wear then they are toast. Kinetic straps come in different thicknesses. I think from 1/2 inch all the way up to 2 inch...

First recovery in the new rig

Seems much easier on the equipment and attachment points. This one was $79 as opposed to some that are double and it has great reviews from people that actually have used it for recovery.

    Need help choosing a winch.

I just installed an ARB Deluxe on my Montero. 8-10K units will fit. I researched and went with a Smitty Built X2O wireless w/ synthetic rope. It's waterproof as well. 4 Wheel parts installed it. They said that they get 3 times LESS warranty claims with these then Warn. Fits perfect. NOTE...

First recovery in the new rig

Doing some testing this last weekend in the Montero build and did about 40 miles in the Ocala national forest. Very dry and tons of sugar sand. My buddy had his Gambler 500 vehicle out with us (we like to have at least 2 vehicles) and he did succumb to the Sugar sand once and was sitting in his...

Got the ARB bumper on with a Smittybuilt X2O 10k winch w/ synthetic rope, Hella spots, and Adventure Design skip plate. Also had the exhaust modded a little. The local dealer saw the truck and wanted a pic for their website. Lol.

Got the rig back and took it for the wheel and tire install then alignment. She was really in need of an alignment. Here are some photos and I included what I think is the original spare tire unused. The first photo you will see the rear tires in severe positive camber from the lift. Quite...
