That may be true @Steve, but I can tell you that here in Australia, it is incredibly rare to see a modified Subaru for off road use, even in the outback. I have worked in the outback. It's all Nissans and Toyotas. There are old Brumbys still hanging around though.

I got mine serious stuck last week. Had to abandon it and hike out of the forest. Luckily I was only 20 min from home. Four hour recovery the next day. You can read about it here.
