Truck bed fridge w/o bed cap?

Hi everyone. Couldn't find a recent thread on this topic. It seems the only truck bed fridge that is meant to be exposed to the elements is the "ARB Elements" 63qt. At $1,400 on average, I'm looking for other options. Very curious about your experience putting other refrigerators in the bed...

    Sleeping bags.

I saw that Big Agnes has already been mentioned but I'm absolutely a loyalist to their brand, for sleeping bags. I have the same problem with mummy bags and over the years have accumulated 3 separate Big Agnes bags. A 45, a 15, and a 0. All have the square bottom and foot box. What I liked most...

    Hammockers?

I have an rtt so not if I'm with my rig. If I'm out backpacking I have a warbonnet xlc blackbird.

The OFFICIAL Trans NJ Trail Thread

Wow! Been waiting and hoping for some TNJT info. Will be sending an email shortly. You're time and effort are very much appreciated. I'm also a Gaia user. But it's totally ok if some stuff doesn't transfer. Then it'll be a bit more like exploring. It's completely true, don't mess around in NJ...

    Paddy Mountain driveable trail

I'm a backpacker by heart so LNT is near and dear to me. One of the reasons I joined OB, their core values. Good info on the "event stuff" but I'm always solo so far. Not that I'd object to a small group but probably not more than a few rigs. I like going at my own pace.

    Paddy Mountain driveable trail

Unfortunately I have not made it back. My rig went in for some custom armor in May and it turned into needing a new frame. Just got it back to my buddy's shop last week. Hopefully I'll have it back by end of september. The primitive sites are primarily for backpackers. The actual campsites...

    Paddy Mountain driveable trail

I planned it as the middle of my route that day so I intentionally took a long way there after meandering through the Forest. To see a direct route I had to check my Purple Lizard map of Bald Eagle State Forest. Highly recommend Purple Lizard btw. If you're coming in off 45 it's Woodward Gap...

Perspective of a Newbie! - Trans NJ Trail

Feel free to ask me any specific gear/mod questions. Publicly or via PM. And if you want someone to go exploring with feel free to ask that too. Can't guarantee availability but we're not far away and it's always nice to run with another taco.

Perspective of a Newbie! - Trans NJ Trail

Just wanted to say welcome. I have an 05 Tacoma, formerly a trd sport too. I say formerly because it's getting pretty built out. Each person's needs are a little different. So far I've only been out solo so I built to be as self sufficient as possible without going completely overboard. My truck...

Kayaks - Inflatable, Rigid, Folding. . . whaddya have and how do ya like it?

That looks like a great canoe! The wait will be worth it. It looks like the Hornbeck guys had some great ideas for that model and are continuing to evolve. It's been a few years since I checked out their site, they didn't make that hands free option then. What they made at the time was a...

    Wisdom from the River

If you're thinking about having a dog in the boat, I might stick with the plastics like the Native Ultimate FX 12. It's heavier but with bow skirt it sheds water like a kayak and has more lateral stability because of the tunnel hull. Hornbeck would probably be totally fine, but I feel like it's...

    Wisdom from the River

I've done a few extended river and lake trips by canoe. Other than my dry bags the only river knowledge that transferred comes as much from backpacking. I still use my dehydrator. But now instead of for complete meals, for fruit leather and snack stuff. I suppose the weight consciousness...

Bedding for camping, what do you use?

When I'm on the ground I have found Big Agnes to be the best. As others have mentioned, the air mattress slides in and prevents the bag from twisting. And since they have non-mummy verions, there's some room to move and roll over. As a side and/or stomach sleeper this is ideal. I have two...

    RTT Ladder Extension?

You probably will. I have my rtt on a bed rack that sits below cab height. If it was on the roof I'd need an extension. My tacoma is lifted 6" on 35s. However, big caveat, I have an easy awn. Not sure about ladder length differences between brands.

Camp Poop (sorry for the bluntness but I want to know)

I use the cleanwaste go anywhere portable toilet. Uses a bag. Instead of their expensive cleanwaste bags I use a 13 gal trash bag. Fits great. Drop in a scoop of happy campers holding tank treatment to gel any liquids and kill the smell. Tried the type on eBay that contains water and all, too...

OB FULL EAST REGION meet and greet

Thanks guys for organizing this. I'd really enjoy meeting other OB members and this sounds like a great way to start the season. I'm hoping this event will be a hit and will become reoccurring so I can come another year. Wish I'd seen this a couple weeks back... can't get off work at this...

Hello from Pa - Member #10244

Mainline seems very competent and there were lots of folks who'd had them build their rigs. I support another shop that I already know will always do the job right. For my first year at MAOF I just went to all classes/workshops (navigation, offroad driving 101 and 201, and many others. Some of...

Hello from Pa - Member #10244

Welcome @Geoffrey Cook. I'm from southeast PA and last year started exploring Bald Eagle State Forest. There's an event in your area every August, that you probably already know about, the Mid-Atlantic Overland Festival held by Mainline Overland. Had a great time last year.
