2017 Forester XT: Tiny overlander with big dreams

Have a second set of hands to help out as the thing is big and awkward sized. Also instructions tell you to discard the plastic splash shields but I did not like how open it left the wheel well areas so I just trimmed the bottom of them and reinstalled them.

Hmm no idea, anodized would be cool but very expensive for something this big.

    Great sleep setup

Wooden platform with a 3 inch high density foam mattress from Foam Factory. Cheap, comfy and great for windy desert camping.

What do you prefer when you go away...tent...caravan...overland trailer..

I prefer to just sleep in the car. We built a pretty comfy setup and its great for places that have high winds. Also makes camp setup and breakdown much quicker.

The Forester keeps impressing me with how capable it is on and off the road. Love being able to cruise at 75 loaded down and getting 23 mpg and still being able to do some rougher stuff.

Should we have a regional For Sale section?

I think that is a great idea since many overland specific items are not really shipping friendly.

My ARB 2000 awning and Yakima shovel mount came just in time for my Mendocino National Forest trip so I spent Thursday making some brackets for the awning to mount it to the side of the Yakima Loadwarrior basket and than headed out to Mendocino to test the setup out. Mendocino National Forest...
