@ramblinChet Thank you so much for visiting & the terrific trail review! My friend Xplorer313 put the trail together. He's out of the hobby (I hope he gets back in) so he's trusted me with checking in on the TNJT. Thank you again for the wonderful review!
@atc250r you spend time with your Son & his scout troop. They are the future of us! I'm 55 y.o. & when people say "you're pretty smart, how do you know all of that?" I say "on my path towards Eagle Scout".
Come autumn, I gonna do the whole thing north to south towing the camper.
Wonderful weekend camping along the TNJT at Hawkins Bridge in the Pine Barrens. Woke up this morning & the temperature was 57 degrees! Such a welcome break from the 90+ Temps we've had for the last 3 weeks or so. Sam, my rescue pup accompanied me & I wonder if this was his first dip in cedar water!
BTW, another thing I started doing was raking the sandy soil around my camp/trailer before I go on a hike or a float. When I return, I know if someone was snooping around by the footprints in the sand
Cool, like I said, If I head out there next year, I'm surely planning on spending a few days! But I did have fun in the day I was there, plus, as a Jersey Piney (flatlander) I surely wasn't prepared to camp on a hillside but I did the best I could (8" block under the left side camper tires)
@DevilDodge , I was out "your way" last month. Last minute, my buddy asked if I'd tow his dirt bike to a Hare Scramble at Rocket Raceway. (Three Springs/McConnellsburg) Just an overnight trip. When I got home I realized I was so close to so much cool stuff. Michaux, Abandoned Turnpike, etc. If I...
In a marathon day performing a trail maintenance run, I left home in Camden County, drove to High Point then began heading south on the trail. I stopped & cut a few trees blocking the path, visited Buttermilk Falls, picked up trash along the way, etc. I made it to Six Flags then headed for home...
Depending on how you want to space out your trip/how long/ far you want to travel each day but High Point of course. I usually do a night at Spruce Run, then either a spot at Brendan Byrne SF or Batona Camp in Wharton SF (Carranza Memorial is practically across the street). Or, if you wanted to...
The route from Six Flags - south is good as of March '23. Sorry, I haven't checked the north portion. Note that Lower Bank (Batsto Village area)received 7" of rain this weekend but it's been awful dry down here.
So I was in my local Dollar Tree when I spotted small cans of fake Spam. Celebrity brand Luncheon Meat I think it was. I thought "I've gotta try it" so I purchased 2 cans. I arrived home, and when I was putting them in the cupboard, I saw something......THEY HAVE A KEY TO OPEN THE CAN! Suddenly...
I've carried one of these for years. Collateral benefit thats very important to me.... I rake the entire site within the perimeter of my dog's rope. Leaf piles tend to hold alot of ticks. Gotta keep those pups safe!
It would be interested to see if those reserved sites are actually occupied. Here in South Jersey, I often camp in Wharton S.F. When I go on the reservation system website, many sites are often shown as reserved, but when I'm there camping, there is nobody! Sometimes, while taking my weekend...
