Had some stuff I wanted to say about elitism. But I'll just say it's a cool little truck and I'd probably buy one.
Edit 3/18/23:
Ordered in Sept. Just got the VIN and build confirmation this week.
For 2 inches, there's not much to worry about as far as components. Shocks is the big one, then choose between either HD coils or coil spacers for the back.
For the money I'd go Bilstein 5100 F+R or 6112+5160. Then pick up some Old Man Emu rear springs at your desired load rating.
Those...
Drug addiction is a disease. One that starts off easy to hide. It affects every class, age and wage group in the US and is not limited to any personality type, life event, mental state or otherwise. Parenting has nothing to do with it. Nor does social status.
I work at a shop that services a...
Not a new situation, just amplified. I feel you, though. I don't generally agree with the pay-to-play arguments due to their regressive nature, but a yearly access fee for state parks works pretty well here in WA.
I think a lot of this could be tamped out with active and sustained ad campaigns...
Depending on the level of rust another option for you might be to consider purchasing a full frame from a yard. (Should be about a grand.) Average cost to sand blast and powder coat a frame/rolling-chassis is 500-700 dollars. The inside can be taken care of however you like. (My preference is 3m...
The ladder rack I picked up for my truck is comprised entirely of 14ga 2x1 rectangle. It gets a little wiggly with a 6ft overhang, but it's more than sturdy enough for what you're doing. Especially with how tight your cross bars are going to be spaced.
Plus, even at 12ft long, I can carry the...
Sounds stupid, but tightening before loosening is the tried and true method. Good leverage and a tight fit is key for torx stuff, as mentioned before. If you can get it to crack loose going forward it's pretty much guaranteed to back out.
To my knowledge it is not something that can be turned off. Smart charging had been around in different iterations since the early '00s. Nowadays it's integrated into load management strategies and is integral to the programming of multiple modules including the pcm, bcm, and infotainment.
That...
I'd quote it with a local shop. Why pay for another 3rd member and shipping if you don't have to. Gears and bearings are a few hundred bucks plus labor and oil. I assume you don't have a factory locker so pick something out if you wish. Should end up being cheaper than 2k.
Also, 4.56-4.88 is a...
As with all things, it depends on where and how you travel. Protection is nice (sliders, bumpers, armor, ect). But in my experience, the best all around upgrade to get started is suspension. Lift it if you're going to lift it, but a shock upgrade in general goes a long way towards living with...
Hand winches are fine choice. I'm definitely not a fan of farm-store come-alongs for vehicle applications. But something like the MorePower Puller with Samson Am-Steel rope is a great choice. Maybe a little overkill for an MDX, but top of the line nonetheless.

Ambitious work! I love it. Couple notes. With Electronic Throttle the OEM's were able to scrap Idle Air Control Valves. It's all done by the ETB. To make that happen, the pcm pays very close attention to calculated load value on top of built-in adjustments for the parasitic load of the auto...
I'm partial to Powerstop brakes. Budget conscious and still a nice up over standard replacements. Don't need to get the "extreme" set if you don't want to; I personally prefer the z17 ceramic pads paired with the drilled and slotted rotors.
Whatever brand you decide to go with, the most...
Sounds like your head's in the right space. Everyone is different so here's my thought process:
-New does not always equal reliable.
-Factor in depreciation (market is hot now, but how long will it stay that way?)
-How much do you plan on modifying/can one be found pre-setup?
-How much "The...
Guess I'll bump this. Also down for a beer if that's preferable.
Preference is normally to meet folks before I decide to go off and join a trip. If anyone is down in Skagit, I've got a soft spot for Farmstrong Brewing and always enjoy a visit.
Up front, my opinion is biased. My life experiences are such that I can't actually imagine spending the kind of money your discussing. With that said, that money isn't going anywhere. If you ensure you have good advisers then stash the cash you want to play with in a high yield account and go...
Hey guys,
Recent issue. Pick a category and topic and scroll to the bottom. App crashes after 8-10 seconds instead of loading the next batch of threads. Only in Categories and not in the Feed. Haven't tried all of them but at least a dozen so far.
No dice clearing data or uninstall/reinstall...
I'll throw my hat in the Torsen LSD pile. I've used the Truetrac for years in different vehicles and it's perfect: smooth, intuitive, bulletproof, and easily manipulated. (Not to mention holding it's resale value).
With that said, lockers and LSD's are expensive. Many folks need to save up to...
