We went full circle over the last few years. I have always been a camper, and thankfully my family loves it as well. Basic car camping was our MO.
We started looking at ways to go farther and stay out longer and settled on the idea of a square-drop off-road trailer. This of-course led us to a...
This works well! It's the very idea Hamburger Helper works off of. Takes some trial and error to figure it out. Start with less than you think, and add as needed.
Another time and water saver hack we use is to make instant potatoes and add another veggie like corn into the potatoes at the end...
RSI Kitchen came in! Waiting on the stow away table and roof rack for it to show up.
Mounted up the ARB Elements fridge as well.
Trigger is getting new leaf springs to carry this new weight. Going with Old Man EMU springs rated for constant load of 660 lbs in the bed.
I do! I've got a '19 FX4 that we've taken everywhere dragging an off-road camper trailer. We love our truck! Check out my build thread: 2019 Ford Ranger Build (Trigger)
Sent my RSVP! Pretty excited to join for this trip! The TAT has been a bucket list trail for me for a long time. My son and I will be in our '19 Ranger FX4. I have a current build thread going if you want to check it out. My wife will join us aprx 1/2 way near Oklahoma. (she doesn't have the...
Turning point for my family on this subject happened this past fall. We had our fancy off-road trailer set-up to camp the night on Cedro peak in Nm. We had climbed ledges on a washed out trail to get to the spot we were camping for the night.
It was a fun pull up the mountain.
I was feeling...
I had mentioned at the beginning of this build thread that there would be some explanations on some of the choices being made.
Tires:
I've fitted BFG All Terrains in size 265 70 r17 (31.7") on factory optional wheels. This choice was based on a few factors.
First off, I could keep them tucked...
Sort-of. I'm going to add a winch tray with a bull bar similar to what you see on 4Runners. I'm trying to keep the weight reasonable on this one. Emphasis on trying. Lol
Assembled and installed the RSI Smartcap. Have strong help to lift it in place, it's heavy!
Had to trim the Decked system to fit the brackets for the RSI. Speaking of which, the RSI for the Ranger mounts in an unusual manner.
I am waiting for the kitchen, platform roof rack, and stow away...
I bought the upgraded water resistant bag and then gave it a good waterproofing spray can treatment. Waxed the zipper as well. Should do well up on the rack. (Hasn't rained on the new bag yet)
I've had a spod in my jeep for 7 years. Never had a problem with it. That jeep went through a F5 tornado and it still worked perfectly after having a house dropped on/in it.
Probably trying something different with the new build just to change it up.
We have a CVT My Shasta (55" wide) with the extended awning and annex room. It also has an anti condensation mat under the mattress pad. We're in Oklahoma but could rally up for delivery. Asking $1300
Things to come in the next week or so, assuming other parts show up.
Pictured: Fords Ranger Raptor wheels; Med Kit/ sat communicator; Warn Zeon 10s Platinum winch; and a couple of the arb fridge parts.
I've ordered the shrockworks winch mount, but their lead times can be lengthy. Looks like...
