I’ve been thinking a portable lithium system with integrated charger and inverter would make for a more flexible alternative to dual battery install as well. Haven’t taken the plunge but was looking at the Bioenno 400W-hr unit. I need to do some power draw calculations still to see if it would...
A common practice is to export the route to a gpx file and then upload the gpx file with your post or rally point. If you need it to be a link, on the Gaia web page for the public track/route there is a share button that will give you a link for the web page. A link to the web page is not as...

I've been wanting to get out in the mountains to explore since moving to Reno, NV from out east and my Honda Civic wasn't up to the task. I decided on a 5th Gen 4Runner Trail/TRD Offroad with KDSS, but was not willing to buy new. In my research, I started reading more about the Lexus GX and...

Here are my gpx tracks recorded today. One using iPhone 7 internal GPS, logged with ViewRanger app, the other using Garmin InReach Mini tethered via Bluetooth to iPad, logged with Gaia GPS app.
A big thank you to Klinton and the gang for putting this together. It was a great learning experience for me and I had a blast getting out into the woods.

@NavEx, funny you should mention that. I was struggling to get onto a repeater just yesterday, using my UV82HP for the first time. What did it for me finally was when I found this, http://www.miklor.com/COM/UV_ProgMem.php and realized you have to save the transmit frequency explicitly to the...
The WiFi only iPads do not have GPS built in, but the WiFi+Cellular iPads do. The GPS receiver is part of the cellular chipset but you don’t need cell service (or even a service plan) for the GPS to function.
Yes, the problem persists. I changed my username around June 24, 2018. Capture4.PNG is the biggest deal to me, because that is public facing text in the source whereas the other stale displays are only visible to me as the logged in user.
I'm not familiar with that area, but I'd thought I'd try using your directions as an exercise in building a route map. Does this look about right? https://caltopo.com/m/FF23
Having it mapped might make it easier for others to give feedback.
Some time ago i changed my username on the site. However, it looks like it updated in the forum software but there is still the front page/rally point software (Wordpress?) that displays my previous username. In my case, I changed from sprg to xplorr. I have attached screen shots that show...
@MEU(SOC)
Thank you for your videos. I subscribed to your channel. Gear question for you, do you have ability to charge your 80V Kobalt tool batteries on-board the Jeep, if not, did you use more than 1 battery on this 3 day trip? That looks like a great chainsaw option for the forest.
I wasn't sure if I should start a new thread or just add to this one. Great job on the site. The map and rally points are awesome resources here. One problem...
The iCal download link on the specific Rally Point web pages has the same 2013-06-15 event data for all rally points on the site...
It is 6:30 PM. Perhaps the Rally Point can be edited by someone with permission to a time of 18:30, there is already a text description with the PM included. It does look like the rally point page has a bug for the iCal file, because it shows 6/15/2013 for me as well. It looks like hard-coded...
