Not your typical Overland Vehicle (pics)

My last toy was an older Subaru Forester. 2" lift, bash plates, roof basket. It was fun, but kinda fragile.

    Night Shots of Camp

We weren't exactly camping, more like glamping in a cabin.. but we were outside and there was a fire. Cheers everyone. I'm looking forward to the next decade of adventures. See you on the trail!

    Let’s talk Coolers:

A buddy of mine swears by the RTIC coolers. I have a small Yeti that works really well.. won it in a raffle, otherwise I probably wouldn't have it.

    That's Not a Knife...This is a Knife.

Thanks! It's the second one that he made.. the first one was mine for a minute, then he decided he wanted to re-do it - so he traded me.

    That's Not a Knife...This is a Knife.

Lots of cool collections here! Most of these knives were collected over 25 years ago. The long one on the lower left was made by my dad from a file this year. Buffalo nickle cash clip for scale (ha!).

2020 Goals? What do you wish to Accomplish in 2020?

I love solo trips. You can pack light, sleeping is easier (although, warm GF body is always nice on a chilly night!) and it's good to have quality time with your own thoughts.

    Your one "must have"

I live on the 3rd floor and do not have a garage.. so, I always tend to forget at least one thing (last time it was dinner plates!). I don't mind helping out when someone else is stuck at all, just the opposite, it's an opportunity to kinda give back. The recovery plates are just an insurance...

    Portable Fire Pits?

I picked up a small foldable fire pit on Amazon. UCO was the name. it had some good reviews. About a month ago I tested it out while on an overnighter in Little Blare Valley. It's tiny, only able to hold about 2 logs worth. Not bad heat. The next morning, because the fire was so small, it was...

2020 Goals? What do you wish to Accomplish in 2020?

I'd really love to do the Mojave Road again, this time East to West. A Death Valley trip, too! On my 4Runner.. I need to blow apart my roof rack, reseal the mount points (pretty sure that's where a little water gets in when hard rains come) and do the 1.5 extension I have planned. I have the...

Yeah, I've never used my recovery plates for my own recovery..

    Legal Weapons and Overlanding

Unfortunately, the trash there was not limited to spent casings. Lots of TVs and other odd junk that had been drug out there to shoot up and was left. I've seen this kind of junk in many of the BLM sites I've visited over the years. Berdoo Road is a large wash that is part of the natural water...

    DIY Trailer Concept

Your post made me think of setups like this that I've seen over the years. Not sure of the actual laws, but I think once a trailer is registered as a trailer, you can carry whatever you like in it.

    Legal Weapons and Overlanding

I don't own (or plan to own) any guns. I grew up around them, we come from a long line of hunters. My grandfather even had a little gunsmithing area setup in the shop on the side of his barn. When camping with my brother up near Boreas Pass, my sons and I shot the 9mm that he brought along. It...
