I already have a surface pro. But from what I have seen you are correct there seems to be more software options with Android. Since I was considering the Overlander I guess the expense of a Android tablet is minimal. Just seems redundant if I can use a full laptop/tablet computer like the surface.
Oh. I used shackles at both ends of the cables. Loosen the turnbuckle, loosen the shackle screw and off it comes. Fast and easy. I have been using an Allen wrench in the hole in the shackle screw to tighten and loosen. That's my only concern. I'd like to find a clip that stays on.

I can probably answer that from their video's. Simple to use, Don't need do deal with all those companies and web sites, integration of software and inreach integration.
What attracted me to it is the simplicity of an all in one unit. I am learning the reality is there is no such thing...
Painted the Stainless Steel Screws on Hook Road roof racks black. Plastidipped Tacoma emblems on doors.
Because I mounted the front as far and high as I could on the bullbars it opens fine. It pushes the antennas a bit but that's fine. I'll take a picture.
The title of the post is "What’s a good first camera". Maybe the question should include: How much do I need to spend for a good first camera or for $500.00 what is a good first camera. $1000.00, $1500.00.
I am looking for something for setting up on a tripod and a light for doing interviews...
How are you so sure of what the Garmin Overlander does and has? I haven't found that much real user information on it. It is supposed to have all of the US maps preloaded. I suppose the subscription is for updating maps and apps. I know my phone doesn't have room for all of that. My MS Surface...
I've been thinking the same thing. From what I have seen the Garmin Overlander maybe as close as there is. At least I hope so. While I'm not a subscription guy updating maps is essential and someone has to pay for it. There are no free lunches.
I plan on looking it over at Overland east and at the same time take classes on the other methods. I have a Microsoft surface and a mount. If it does what they say it might be a much simpler solution. I'm pretty cheap but anyone who drops $$$ on rooftop tents when ground tents of the same size...
Sleeps 24? like the cubicles in japan? https://thumbor.forbes.com/thumbor/960x0/https%3A%2F%2Fblogs-images.forbes.com%2Fgeoffreymorrison%2Ffiles%2F2016%2F07%2FCapsule-Hotel-2-1200x675.jpg
I thought about bumpers before I saw Wilco and ultraswing. I went this way because of the extra cost (at least double) and weight. I'm too heavy as it is. I may need to upgrade springs or add airbags. More $$
