Salty snacks for me. I'm not much for sweets. Maybe those Costco nuts, salt and dark chocolate bars.
Solo-trips out for me are vital. Time to reflect on life & make decisions without distraction. Finding a campsite far from others, taking a hike where you don't see another soul, cresting a hill...
I'm curious if anyone has ever used old server rails instead of buying new drawer slides. The ones that come off of the storage arrays are really damned beefy.
I don't carry boxes, but I do carry a couple of half height jerry cans up on my Yakima LoadWarrior.
I use rachet straps. I always keep 10 or so in my rig stored in a Harbor Freight zip bag. Most of my straps have been cut down and the end bummed to stop fraying.. around 6' I think. Gas cans...
I had challenges with my K&N Cold Air Intake (It was there when I bought it.. long story). I ended up getting an aftermarket MAF (JET 69148 Mass Air Sensor). After that, tip top. I do stress every time I come across water, though.
Alaska - On my long term list.
Moab - Amazing place. Make sure to hit Canyonlands and drive the Shafer Trail all the way back to town (~26 miles)
Death valley - On my short term list
Trans america trail parts of it - YES! - On my long term list. Especially interested in the spur that goes from...
The last couple of times out I've worked to refine my kitchen pack.
This is what I'm taking out on the next trip (this weekend).
Cutting board
Paper towels
Big spoon, spatula
Cloth napkins (for cleanup and anti rattle)
KleenKanteen pint cup with random beer koozies.
10" fry pan with lid
8" fry...
I put all the eggs, milk, salt, pepper, etc into a used 16oz water bottle. Makes breakfast a snap.
I kinda hate single use containers, so sometimes I'm out and that is the available water, I save the bottle just for this use.
My buddy John and I got in an overnighter in Dos Cabezas, a hike and a little bit of dirt road the weekend before last.
The weather was so perfect. I can't wait to get back out there this weekend coming up, this time with my girlfriend..
