    New 35" Tires!..Now Which Gears...?

Stock is either 3.21, 3.73 or 4.10 (if a Rubi). I'm running 35"s on my '16 3.6L auto 3.21, and so far so good. If I get into a situation where I want better performance, I'll go to 4.56 or 4.88's. Editing my reply - Regarding diff's, if not a Rubi then you're open diff w/ Jeep's BLD (brake...

Where did you install your OB emblem?

I put mine on both sides of the jeep. Sticker on the rear glass. Other sticker... hmm, wonder who inspired that one? [emoji23] Sent from my iPhone using OB Talk

    Coyote Flats in a 2 x 4 4Runner?

Does it have a locking rear diff? I used to go all sorts of places in my 2wd 318v8 Dodge Ram, mechanical locking rear diff, because my wife wouldn't let me take our pristine D1 Discovery... :-P Even w/ the 'construction worker' tires, that thing was a mountain goat! You'd be surprised where...

Chili's 2012 JKU Sport - Rock Crawler to Overland Rig

I used to take my 14 yr old chocolate lab with me in the Jeep(s), she was about 65 lbs but wouldn't (couldn't?) jump in, so she'd go to the back and look at me - "Daddy, lift me up...". Lost her to cancer this year, my back still hurts. I'll teach the next puppy to jump in! :-) Nice jeep and...

Welcome, Overland Bound Region - Southeast

Hello, from Auburn, Alabama. I'm new (again) to SE Alabama, and am scouting places for us overlanders to go in Alabama. We have some documented trails around Birmingham, and up north, but I believe there's way more to map out. Originally from NE Georgia, I cut my teeth offroading/overlanding...

    Traction control?

Believe it or not, Ford doesn't offer lockers in the rear anymore in their trucks (or, at least, not in my Expedition 2wd) - it relied on their traction control/abs/stability control (BLD-like) technology they got from Land Rover. Basically the computers doing all the work. I always thought...

Surplus Humvee- Would it make a good rig?

Yeah, my thoughts - while they're cool, they're so wide... you may be limited to the trails and places you can go.

    Traction control?

Jeep uses TC along with other systems for its Brake Lock Differential (BLD), sort of their version of an e locker Sent from my SM-T230NU using OB Talk mobile app

    JEEP VS TOYOTA

Just saw this when I was searching this site - https://www.overlandbound.com/forums/threads/1986-yota-4runner.4391/ This is an early 4Runner build thread, but look at the pics - that's an XJ to 4Runner 2-1 ratio there! Go XJ! :-P Good luck! Chip

    JEEP VS TOYOTA

That's just wrong... but, umm.... Daisy Duke. Yeah. Ok. I can live with that. :-P Chip - Jeep Guy, on #6 -> the one 4Runner I had ('02) -> wasn't impressed.

    JEEP VS TOYOTA

Having had both (a later 4Runner and a '94 XJ 4.0 4x4 Sport), I'd say take a close look at both. Specs have them at about the same length (4Runner slightly longer), XJ is wider, and the 4Runner is taller by < 2 in. Specs on the vehicles are pretty similar, actually. Here are links, in case...
