Looking forward to this thread and I enjoyed your Sequoia projects here and elsewhere (and I'm a little bummed you moved on from it), but I had to comment: I don't think I've ever heard of the I-5 run between PDX and SEA as a " nice little morning drive." You must really love your new rig!
Thanks for the kind words. And Yeah, if you can make them work for your space, custom foam cushions are totally the way to go! (more durable, cheaper, modular, etc)
For what it's worth, I just don't know if the 15 Max is necessary in something like a trailer. I'd probably save some money and space and go with a 4" pad. Old body and ground tent, sure. But for trailer -- even for an XL sized side sleeper like me -- I'd think anything over 4" would just be...
If you're thinking of the Duo10, check out the NEMO Roamer. Just as comfy (actually, maybe a bit more -- the textured top finish might help airflow on warm nights), inflates/deflates easier, and packs way smaller and lifetime warranty. Also, I didn't keep track of all of them but the Exped Mega...
Glad you didn't mind the big info dump. One comment about breathing into these pads as an inflation method -- you're putting water in there with your breath. It can (eventually) add up to more weight, decreased R-value, decreased cushion, and possibly some icky stuff like mold. The OG thermarest...
I hate to be that guy, but the REI employee was wrong. This is not a criticism of you and your pad choice so please don't take it that way. I've been meaning to post my pad experience for a while and your post finally prodded me into action.
This spring I bought ALL (see below for rankings)...
I'm guessing you're probably right, but now they're going to get a $0 recoup from me vs the ~$100 they were about to get.
Fine, end the offering, raise the price or whatever, but maybe give your existing and eval customers a last shot to lock in the "current" prices. Heck they email me 2x/week...
Has anyone else noticed that Gaia has killed the 5-year plan? My three month trial just ended today and I was going to do the five-year. But as far as I can tell, it's not available anymore. Which is a bummer. I wanna say the five year with a coupon was under $100 and the one year is closer to...
Anyone know if this is still going (the 10 percent off)? I signed up and didn't receive any coupon or anything. It's not a huge deal but I hate to leave a discount on the table ;-)
Edit: whoops, you were referring to the roverparts link for the 10 percent off. The 15% was from BuyLCI and that...
Thx. I had decided on the T3x, with the T4 Overland edition a distant second. Both of those are OOS. So if anyone is thinking about the plain T4 grab it now!
I ordered the Kymit because the Megamats were all out of stock. I expected it would be a nice thick double mattress, but it's not much better than my ten-year-old Thermarests. The package arrived, I opened it, inflated it, tried it out for two minutes. Then I deflated it and sent it back...
Thanks for your thoughts! It sounds like I need to decide if we're going with two big cots or Exped double wide mattress. If it turns out the Exped mattresses are as good as everyone says, the smaller packed size of the T3x is likely going to outweigh having room for two cots.
My thinking so...
