This could have come in handy tonight as I walked the T4 through the house from the garage to the backyard for a backyard camp with my 3 year old. Hit the wall with the end and put a nice dent in the sheet rock. Whoops.
I did the same set up as @Downs mentioned. Same leaf springs, could, and shocks. I did go with the .75” (3/4”) spacer in the coils though.
The results are pictured above somewhere. I don’t think I even have 1000 miles yet on this set up because i have a company car, but so far so good.
Check out Carolina Overlanders on Facebook if ya haven’t already. That group , and the local group on here are both pretty active. I haven’t had a chance to join either on a trip yet though.
I’m in Greer.
I got an XJ about a year ago with the same intentions. I was back and forth on the suspension, but the lack of funds argument won out.
I ended up doing the “Upcountry” suspension with simply the heavy duty stock suspension, and ZJ coils. This gave about a 1.5 inch lift over stock. If money...
I’ve had zero issues with the Plano boxes you have mentioned above. No water, dust, or dirt issues. Some folks have used a rubber /foam stripping in the lip of the lid to make that much more protected. I’ll eventually do it too
Edit: I have the 1919 , with the latches on both sides. Not the 1819
Do you have a table top review of this duffel bag? Where can I read reviews? Does it have YKK zippers? What denier fabric is it? Does have super duper coating on it? Is it UPF 100? Is it quadruple stitched? Does it smell of lilacs? .... kidding.
I’m right there with ya. Mines in a duffle bag...
Haha yea. I don’t remember if it was eBay that sent me a direct email about the promotion, or if it was through slickdeals.net. That’s also how I bought all my suspension parts for my XJ back around New Years. Saved 20% off my total cart amount through various venders/sellers.
I got my T4 off eBay (new) when they eBay did a 20 or 25% off anything sale. They do them randomly throughout the year. A lot of stores and companies sell their products on sites like eBay and Amazon for more exposure and sales.
There have been several DIY threads using this and the Southwest Disk discada. Some guys have done some pretty cool things as far as how they did the legs and the heat source.
Definitely a cheaper, and still very useful, alternative
Yea, ease of use is exactly why I went with it. Especially with the intent to use it with my two little ones as well. It’s a pain putting together my pole tents when it’s just me, I can’t imagine doing it with little ones running around.
I am curious to see how well the bag holds up overtime ...
I've seen TONS of great reviews on this pad, but have yet to purchase one myself.
Although I used my REI member 20% off coupon on something else I NEEDED, I'm slightly kicking myself for not ponying up for this pad.
It will likely be what I use the 20% off on in fall though, if they keep with...
