Sooo, Stayed at Jumbo Rocks in Joshua Tree Sunday night. It was insanely windy. When we woke up in the morning there were tents in the garbage and people slept in their vehicles or flat out left. OzTent was as solid as the surrounding rocks.

3rd gen. Best: small and extremely capable. Worst: Lower ball joints. Still you can find ones with low gearing, factory rear locker, bountiful parts in the US.

I originally wanted a RTT but my rig is my dd and having the tent on top all the time in AZ sun would probably shorten the life of it. I like the rather quick set up of them and not really having to worry about clear ground. In the end I went OzTent cause I 1) didn’t want that weight up there...
Read through this post and as a noob I have to ask. Would it make more sense for a roof mounted panel or go portable?
As you can see in pic I have a controller already wired up (10ga as suggested) and now I’m just trying to decide If I want something I can move around or something attached...
The 3.4 is a tough motor, lacking in the overall power department it makes up for in reliability. There are folks well over 500k on theirs and still going strong. I have 310k and im getting a 22.4 average mpg. and PS the timing belt ting every 90k is a best practice but not exactly necessary...
The Keens I had last lasted roughly 2 years. nearly daily use. Keens are already wider than most and you can get wider from their site or from REI.

Aren’t XJ straight 6 engines notorious for warping and causing head gasket failure?
When I was looking for a 4x4 I had found an XJ that was lightly used government vehicle for forest service. When I told my mechanic about it he told me he wouldn’t work on it. He told me to look at 4runners or...
If you have feet like a Hobbit there is no better fitting shoe than a Keen. I like Merrill Moab too. Just recently got a pair of Keen Targhee iii. Only time will tell how long they last. My first pair of Keens are worn to the belts like an old tire.

100% fridge. No more ice, no more soggy stuff. My fridge is used just about every day. We use it for camping, road trips, Costco :-/ you name it. It keeps my lunch cold on my 1+ hr drive to work. In the valley of the sun (Phoenix AZ) it’s changed how and what we do in the summer...
So a 99-00 4Runner? If you look hard you can find them within reason still. It seems over the last 2 years the price has gone up on them. They are very capable off-road. The 99 had the highest factory springs.
With all that said be prepared to dump money into it in parts. Emissions...
Just read the only voice for engine will be a hybrid. If that’s true it sort of hinders any water crossings i would imagine. Just like Ford saying the only engine offered in the ranger will be the ecoboost 4. Not sure if i believe that.
