    Porcupine Hills May Long

So the boy and I packed up the rig and the trailer and headed out to Porcupine Hills, Alberta for our annual Father/Son weekend. It was wet and extremely muddy. The road in was, let's say, a little sketchy so in 4H I went. We decided to sleep in the Jeep as the ground was way too wet. We...

    Map books or gps system

For me here in Canada I use TopoMaps Offline on my iPad and a Garmin GPS. I hard to find a good backroads book for Alberta. Maybe I'm not looking hard enough.

    DIY Limb Risers on JKU

Bahahaha! I had someone in the parking lot come over and ask me what the risers were. My response "they're body limb deflectors so that when the zombie apocalypse comes I can drive thru the dead and the limbs will deflect away from my windshield". His face...priceless, I wish I took a picture...

    Trailer or No Trailer?

But hey, building a small overland trailer is fun too. It took me 2 years to complete mine and I am proud of how it turned out.

    Trailer or No Trailer?

I like them both. I like to travel light with my roof rack when I go with my son, but when I have Niner Domestic (wife), son, daughters (2) and the golden retriever, I have to use my overland trailer and the roof rack. But in your case, if it's just you and your 2 dogs, I would use a roof rack.

Okay Fellow Overland Bounders, The 410 Clan needs your help. We are thinking of going from Alberta, Canada to Zion National Park this summer. We would love to know what the best adventurous route would be (nothing difficult, please). Camp spots, amazing sights, etc. We only have 10 days to...

    DIY Trasharoo

So I came across an old army rucksack I had and I said to myself says I"Hey, I can put this to good use". I cut down the wire frame and rigged it up with some army straps to my spare tire. This thing has 3 exterior pockets, 1 hidden pocket and 1 big pocket in the hood. Cost $0! I like $0!

    DIY Limb Risers on JKU

Now for the hood latch part. I didn't want to put holes in my hood either so I came up with an idea to use the hood latches as my tie down points. You'll need to remove the latches (really easy to do) and add a 3" - 2hole straight bracket. Now, you will need a washer for the bottom bolt to make...

    DIY Limb Risers on JKU

Some often ask me "what is the purpose of those wires from your hood to your roof rack?" We "overlanders" know, but it makes for a great conversation and the response is always "Cool! You do that stuff?" I want to share how I added limd risers to my JKU. First I'll do the roof rack. Everything...
