This sounds like fun. I am going to try to make it, at least for the day. I am coming from San Diego, so I'll meet at the staging area. What time do you expect to arrive there?
It will be a great trip with beautiful scenery. Some suggestions based on things I've done with my daughter in the area:
Spend the day in Glenwood Springs CO - Raft the Colorado River, have dinner at the Glenwood Canyon Brewpub and spend evening at the Hot Springs Pool.
In Moab - Do Baby Lions...
Bishop is to the north of the Alabama Hills (about 50 miles). A couple of months ago, I camped at Alabama Hills and the spot I happened to find was just 1/4 mile to the east of Mobius Arch. Definitely worth going.
Sounds like a fun trip. Keep in mind that the Tioga Pass (road between Mono Lake and Yosemite) is closed for the winter. Look forward to seeing the photos.

I am looking for some places to camp/explore along the eastern side of the Sierras. Any ideas would be appreciated. I am looking for good locations between Alabama Hills and Bridgeport, where dispersed camping is allowed and I can possibly do some stream fishing.
I just got this little guy. About as simple as it gets, all you need are cone shaped filters. It's called a Helix Coffee Maker by Soto. I got it for backpacking in mind, but will also be great for making a single cup of coffee while camping.
I would not rely on CB or Ham for an emergency, but an inexpensive handheld Ham (Baofeng) is still worth having. The Sat phone deal seems pretty good. I don't know much about them, but assumed it would cost considerably more. Also check out the Garmin or Delorme InReach, which allows you to...
