Red and green seem to be better for saving night vision in my experience. I have 2 lanterns on with clear glass and one with amber glass. I just got the amber one working. It was inherited from my grandparents. I haven't had a chance to use it out camping yet so now first hand experience...
Exactly. It's also nice no know how long a set of tires lasted so you know if it's worth getting another set. Mine is all on paper. I keep a medium sized note book in every vehicle. That way it's always with it. I also keep the receipts in a file at home. Some days I think I'm a bit of a...
I've always kept track of all maintenance on my vehicles. That way I know whats been replaced and when. If a wheel bearing goes out I know if I've replaced it and when. It's nice to know how long things last.
Might have to look into these more. I've been breaking a lot of shovels around home last summer... Could make a good replacement to my bent small shovel.
Looks like a great trip. One of these days I'll make it back down to Moab with the family. Every time we ask our oldest daughter where she wants to go she just yells "to the mountains!" She very much enjoyed our last trip to the yellowstone area and many trips to the Black Hills in South...
I've taken both my Bronco and the F-250 places a little too narrow but when one is covered in bedliner and the other is old and faded scratches don't really bother ya. When we take the f-250 camping we all 4 fit with a dog and all our gear including firewood and still have plenty of room in...
Sounds like a big project but if you have the interest I'd go for it. I tend to make what I have into what I want. I'm working on redoing my 84 Bronco again at the moment. It shouldn't be to hard to make it 4x4 a lot of the parts are interchangeable on these trucks for a lot of years. Have...
We picked out the Bronco because I already had a short box regular cap F-150 with lockers and gears. I wrecked the F-150. So after some thinking we decided on a bronco so I could use the good parts of the truck to build the Bronco. The plan from the beginning was to use it as a hunting...
As an ASE Certified Master technician for 15 years there isn't much I don't fix myself. Still have to take them in for alignments. a tape measure just isn't close enough. Although the last one I did came out perfect. A few years back I got a good offer to work in a local parts store so I...
My whole family tends to enjoy some range time. My kids even help me with the reloading. And I always have a way to protect myself and my family. But what, where, and why are my business not the group I am with. I don't advertise the fact that I carry. If you ask I'll answer but I won't...
We still have the good old Colman white gas that has been used and abused but keeps working. We have one of the jet boild stoves for hiking or warm drinks. We have 2 lanterns that use the same fuel. It's nice to only carry one fuel type. But we cook on the fire as much as possible so the...
Due to all of our kids being winter babies the youngest they camped was about 3 months old. The wife did eventually figure out that she packed way too much stuff. Yes you'll need more spare cloths for the kids. But your camping and exploring so if your doing it right you'll probably end up a...
I had an 1985 Buick Lesabre. Took that thing hunting and camping. It explored many no maintenance and forest roads. Even some water crossings I had no business trying.
