I'll also be solo. My Mercedes is more expensive than any SO I'd have anyway...
Does anyone have camera equipment? I have a DSLR, a basic camcorder, and a glitchy dashca, but I don't have a GoPro (yet!). I want to get some actual shots of the ML320 doing some off roading (last time all I got...
Thanks for setting up the rally point!
I also do not have CB set up, but I do have a pair of walkie talkies. Later this year I'm planning on getting some proper comms set up. I would have bought one already, but I've had to prioritize my funds elsewhere...
I think this has to do with the...
Good. I just spent a ton on a new cat converter, new transmission/engine oil pans, new fluids all around, and an alignment. I'm hoping to take it easy for awhile.
I think my front clearance is about 9.5 now, and my rear is about 10, so I think I'll be good if that's the case.
I got my Ham license this year. With Ham you can potentially speak with someone on the other side of the world, but to use frequencies that allow you to do that (legally) you need the license and equipment to do that. It can get complicated very quickly depending on your technical expertise. CB...
I have my torsion lift done, new aux lights, oil leak fixed, and this upcoming week I'm going to have my rattling cat converters (which were going out before the last trip and met their end). So if we decide to do a trip I should be ready to go, if not then I'd be willing to do a casual meetup...
I'll be volunteering at Congaree that weekend and can't make it. I finally got my torsion bars set right so now I have about 9 inches of clearance in the front (versus about 7 that I had on the April meetup). I should be able to attend a meetup in June if there is one.
This month I attended a minor meetup at Brown Mountain in the Pisgah National Forest (NC). I was with several Tacoma's, a Tundra, and an Izuzu Trooper. It was the first time I had ever been on an OHV trail, and is probably the first time my ML320 was off road.
Aside from hitting a root with my...
Haha, I'm also not attached. I get enough flack from my friends and family about what I'm doing to a Mercedes. I just need a better paying job to afford the upgrades I want in a timely manner.
Yup! I kinda wish they turned it into a true 6x6 though. If I remember from the article I read on it...
I've seen that before! I'd like it better if they extended the bed into the cargo area of the ML.
Ahh, so its like an electronic low range? That's pretty nifty. If it makes you feel better, I did the trail with about 8 inches of ground clearance in the front. There were scrapes and bumps, but...
I sadly won't be able to make it to the Uhwarrie meetup. I'll be helping Congaree NP with their Firefly festival, and I also don't know if I'll have my suspension upgraded by then or not.
Yes, the ML320 has a proper low range, even though is an AWD. As far as I know, very few AWD vehicles have low range in NA, and they're usually older models from the 80's or 90's.
Once my ground clearance is better, I'll be able to do the trail without getting beached.
Here's all of the footage I could put together. A lot of it freezes, so feel free to skip forward a few seconds when it does. I'll make another video with just the highlights so you guys don't have to sit through 47 minutes of mostly broken footage!
I had a great time on the trail! Tomorrow I'll work on putting together my dashcam footage from my ML320 (it sometimes cut off, I think because of the bumpy trail, so hopefully there isn't any corrupted footage) and will share with you guys afterwards.
Edit: looks like a lot of footage is...
Good news, I got the new bushings in! Hopefully that was the issue with my lift...if it wasn't, then I'm out of ideas and I haven't been able to find anything online about the issue I had. We'll see how it holds up tomorrow! I'll be at the Kmart around...10ish. I need to get the OHV pass from...
Yeah. The video I watched showing how to change them out looked fairly easy. Hopefully this will fix my front suspension drooping so I can have full clearance tomorrow.
