OK. I'll plan to drive up the morning of the 16th and camp overnight. I may bring some family and friends as well, and of course dogs. There were cattle free roaming in the area which is interesting when they graze nearby when I was last there in June.
One option is to do a quick day camp or overnighter locally. I have a spot in LBJ Grasslands that I've used a few times that is pretty good. There isn't any real trail fun since its pretty flat and just gravel roads, but the scenery is decent in some spots and its quiet. Its also close to DFW...

I'm watching this thread. Would like to do this trail at some point, but I'm going to Ozark Rendezvous in October so would't have time. What is the camping situation along this trail? Is it dispersed along trail, or more stops at area state parks near trail?
Ok - next time I'll volunteer and bring my Nikon gear and we'll do formal headshots for each owner and their rig and then post them up so we can build up a nice photo directory.
Good to know. I may just need to book a site at a state park well in advance. just got back from Devil's Den 2 weeks ago and really like that area - may be a repeat for Oct.
