My basket case. 1975 FJ40: currently not running and the body has been separated from the chassis for some major repair. This is a long term project. Someday I would love to have it in the shape of my old 67 FJ that I had in college. And then sell it off while I look for an FJ45 PU...

Dumbest thing you've done while working on your vehicle...

Bridged my lovely Ti Seiko watch between the positive terminal on the battery to the fender on my brothers old 1st get focus while installing a turdbro. I had asked him to disconnect it initially when I started on the install. Lazily, I never checked to see if he had. The burn was soo bad I am...

Directions to Lost Coast Trail for Yeti and Yolo!

The only reason you can't make the trail is because it is currently closed. Physically closed by a big metal gate. Once they swing that gate open in the spring, have at it! It is a trail that can be done in 2wd. But, due to its remoteness and rugged beauty, it is a coveted trail.

Directions to Lost Coast Trail for Yeti and Yolo!

Usal beach after Usal Creek swelled due to rain the night before. We were actually flooded out of our campsite around 7am. I poked my head out of the tent around dawn and noticed the creek was rising. I took a nice little walk, snapped a few picks of the Elks and then returned to rising waters...

Directions to Lost Coast Trail for Yeti and Yolo!

We were up there about a month ago and the trail was closed. We camped for two nights at Usal Beach then headed north via 101 and back to the coast near shelter cove. We ended up camping at Mottle Beach(sp?). We did about 40+ miles of dirt road from shelter cove to Ferndale(I believe it was...

Winter Gear - Must Haves and Recommendations?

REI Down Booties. Cant say enough about these. Wool fingerless gloves for cooking. Salomon winter hiking boots. Super insulated and comfy for hiking. Insulated water storage devices. Again, REI is my go to for this. I have many different size storage containers, Smartwool insulation. There...

What part of northern Cali are you from?

Since my last account was deleted to the great Fubar of 2016, I will restate that I can be found either patrolling the forests of Endor or the wilds of East Palo Alto. I have grown up patrolling the wilds of California backcountry. Bouncing my way up and down the highways, byways, fireroads and...

If you are looking for great overloading type of adventures, take the advice of many on here and head south to one of the many desert locals. The upside to desert trips in the winter is no bugs, no hot weather and amazing sunset/sunrises. The downsides to the desert in the winter time is the...
