Definately compare the ratings and sidewall plies as well. Some tires come in an LT (C, D or E) load rating which means they have more/thicker carcasses/sidewalls compared to P-metric or SL rated tires. They will be more robust and stand up to abuse better and in many cases they have much deeper...
With a weight range of 62 to 82 they are not likely to be the same load range. There are also all-terrain tires mixed in with mud terrains so there are bound to be some large differences.
But to the point of the thread, yes, tire size doesn't tell the whole story. :)
Nah. None of the usual UCAs do unless you get the GMPP or Baja long travel kits which are crazy expensive.
I'm just looking for a cheap low maintanence UCA that fixes the ball joint angle and won't make a bunch of noise. :)
I talked with Accutune regarding my lack of droop (coilover extension) and after a bunch of measurements it looks like I need to reduce spring rate from 550lbs to 450lbs. Even with "no preload" I am only getting about 1" of droop instead of the 2"-3" I should be getting. The truck is simply...
I had a colonoscopy then went home and saw FedEx dropped off my new Freedom Offroad UCAs so I took a nap then installed them. Install was relatively easy but GM placed the nuts for the UCA bolts inside the spring mount so I had to unbolt my coilovers to shift them around and make room for a...
I'm running the DV8 Off-Road bumper which is very similar. Another bonus to these steel inserts is their ability to shrug off potential damage when you push them into rocks or logs on the trail. I used mine to help me climb up on this rock by sliding the passenger side corner up onto the rock...
I was really focused on regular weight and then started thinking about those circumstances where weight is multiplied like when a rig is burried in mud or sand. In hindsight I should have got the 12k since it shares the same chassis as the 10k. Next time. :) Until then, snatch blocks will have...
Manufacturers suggest a minimum of vehicle weight x 1.5. After watching many episodes of 4wdAction and other recovery based YouTubes where even decent sized winches struggled or had to rest for long periods to avoid overheating I think vehicle weight x2 should be minimum. This assumes you can...
It's my 4th colonoscopy so I'm not a virgin. LOL
It's just the way GM designed them. I think there is more space with the OEM springs or they just have a flatter tool that can fit in the gap. You can see a bolt end where the pesky nut is if you look at the right side of the UCA inside the...
Way beefier! Despite being inexpensive I highly doubt I'd ever break them. Nobody has broken the OEM units thus far either and they are flimsy in comparison. :)

I've had mixed success with traction boards in snow. The cold temps make the tires and the boards very hard and grip is lacking. It's still good to have them especially for bridging. A good bottle jack with lots of extention can be a huge help too. Trucks like to get high centered so using a...
For sure! It's not far from my house so I'm down to run it whenever. Let's put something together for next year before the heat kicks in and everything gets crazy dusty.
Most likely! If you don't do the loose scree shale route we took. The main trail goes off to the left but I took this route because it looked like an alternate line. :flushed: If you stick to the main trail it's not too bad although the lifted Tacos were having quite a bit of trouble on the...
Hit Signal Peak again to show a buddy the trail.
This time I took the harder alternate line to the top. One of my wheels gained lots of new scratches for the effort. :)
Made it to the top of the line.
Got to finally use my winch too! Gabe's Land Rover does very well on most obstacles...
