I kinda like the idea of driving til we see a nice dispersed area to camp. From what I saw on the map, there are plenty of campgrounds to chose from if we want amenities. On the gpx file, there are no shortage of campgrounds listed.
Looking at running the Rio Grande Backcountry trail Aug. 3rd of this year. Since this is my first time planning a trip with other rigs/people, I would like to keep it small.View Rally Point
Looking at Monday Aug. 3rd 8am start. Leaving from Grand Island, it looks to be about a 9-10 hour drive to Alamosa on 2 lane(trying to avoid Interstate). Thinking of a different 1st portion after we leave Alamosa so we don't have to drive 60 miles on the highway to the start point just to end...
I'll have the dates set by the weekend. Have to verify my time off at work.
I've heard good things about the Gobi rack. We'll have to see what the funds will allow... Lol.
This damn pandemic has everything flipped upside down. I'm just hoping its ran its course by August.
We're planning on about 4-5 days on the trail, probably have plenty of stops for photos, sightseeing, maybe a side jaunt or 2. I just want to have a relaxing drive through the mountains...
Planning a trip for early August to do the Rio Grande Backcountry Discovery Trail in southern Colorado. Here is a link to the forum thread,Rio Grande Backcountry Discovery Trail . Planning on driving down, staying the night in a hotel in Alamosa then the next morning heading to the trail head...
Hey guys,
App install was straightforward and painless, just had to make sure to allow installs from unknown sources on Android. Logged in on first try with no issues.
Will play around with it some more to see if any issues pop up.
Thanks for the great app and resources @Michael
Just passed through your neck of the woods today heading to Mesa Verde. Beautiful scenery around this part of Colorado. We dipped down into new Mexico to grab a geocache so we could mark that state off our list.
Welcome to OB!
Grand Island here. I've got a 2008 jeep wrangler unlimited Rubicon. Wife and I like Geocaching in our spare time and now with the jeep, mmr's won't be so daunting lol
I'm itching to get out camping but the wife is a warm, dry weather camper. Maybe we can start planning something for early June or so. Who knows, maybe your rig will get done alittle early. I still have a few things I need to do and some gear to buy.
Got my new rock rails/steps installed today. Pretty sturdy and looks better than the old rusty ones that came off.
Also got my 50" lightbar installed along with 2 cube lights. Haven't got the cubes wired in yet, waiting on the wiring kit from Amazon.
