What's the most ridiculous part of your kit?

It's used as a GPS system for when you truly want to explore with no set destination.

Opinions on The Ineos Grenadier ?

I think one of the operative words they used in re the suggested price is "hoped". Per the press release that came with the email: "Ineos' Grenadier gets its power from BMW's 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six, mated to a ZF eight-speed automatic transmission. No manual gearbox will be offered...

Opinions on The Ineos Grenadier ?

The email from the Grenadier people I got yesterday said preliminary production was starting and it would be available next year. The cost is supposed to be around $30,000USD.

14 Earthquakes and Aftershocks along 395,

Between the wife and I (mainly the wife) we have about 3 or 4 earthquake apps. Never really saw the need for then in our part of the world - Kansas - but DANG, earthquake activity is on the rise in Kansas and has been for the past many years. It's gotten so bad people are now adding earthquake...

14 Earthquakes and Aftershocks along 395,

Yup, very scary... what I learned during my first prep/training course was really scary, especially death rates and the size of the destruction zones.

14 Earthquakes and Aftershocks along 395,

I have relatives smack dab in the middle of it. The pic below is a very conservative view. Most of the maps I saw were more like the second one.

And you know what they say about the New Madrid. I was supposed to attend the first 'ShakeOut' on behalf of my area, but work got in the way.

    What do we really need?

You and I seem to think alike. Mine is for everything I do - can't afford a specific vehicle just for this - wouldn't want one anyway. Don't feel the need to waste money on some of the crap people continually yammer about on here, like fridges. Good lord, people of been going on extensive...

Found the right thing in U.K., how do I get it in U.S.?

Have thought about seeing if someone in Britain would buy it for you and then ship it? I have done this with a few items from the UK, Germany and France.

    The small mods

I created a breather system that connected the axles and tranny together that terminates into a 'snorkel' that’s inside the cab, it's the little brass thing in the center of the 2nd pic. It helps keep road and trail crude, as well as leaky engine fluids and water out of the breather system.

    Show us your shemagh

Mine is just a well worn, plain ol' shemagh. As a face mask it won't do anything for you but hide your face. If your thinking the virus thing... the Coronavirus is 0.12 microns in diameter. Surgical type masks, and those "social comfort masks" will only filter out particles between 2 - 10...

    Overlanding in 1930.

Okay... this is just bizarre... I was researching this yesterday afternoon by accident; it started by doing some research on old, wood and rope sand ladders! Did you know parts of the expidition was recreated?

When did you fall in love with overlanding and can someone tell me when the Madness Ends

Cool.... The plan for mine is to keep it as era specific as possible in order to participate in events along the lines of the 'Relic Run' out of Utah. Been talking to a couple of people about putting together a similar type group, but with a cut off date of 1979, maybe a bit newer. Main thing...

When did you fall in love with overlanding and can someone tell me when the Madness Ends

Are you going to keep the mods and such true to the era it was made though? I have a '63 Land Rover, keeping it as true to the era as possible with very, very few modern mods.
