Skipping East this year, as I am taking a break from Overland Expo., and I also have a schedule conflict. Maybe I might try to attempt to drive out to West and make a cross country trip of it if I have the time next year.

It typically is, but the only advantage that I saw from last year is that you are closer to bathrooms and showers that aren't as crowded. I too have the premium package, and will make my decision when I get up there.
The very first thing is go out an learn what your vehicle can do, and how it drives.... Then go and modify it. You don't have to have the biggest baddest built tricked out vehicle to enjoy overland adventuring. A sound vehicle, camping gear, and the spirit for adventure: That's all you need...
