Anyone have issues with high CG trailers off-road?

Keep the CG as low as possible, but wider trailers can handle a higher CG better. A foot probably wouldn't be noticeable but go too high and you might run into issues depending on how much weight is on the bottom. But yes, I've almost had my trailer tip. The only thing keeping it from doing so...

    Overland Weight reduction

Not on my patriot but yes. Drag racing cars and camping/hunting rigs. You don't realize how heavy they are until you are grunting and cussing to get it out the door. Also, you guys have me sold on a unijack to replace one or both of the scissor jacks I carry.

Rear winch and/or trailer winch how many of you are running one?

I can't even count the number of times I wish I had a winch in the bed or back bumper of trucks. It is usually easier to back out of a bad situation than go forward into fresh trouble or for pulling stuff in a utility application. This is especially true at the coast when a recovery point is...

Looking for fenders for my trailer

I think the ones I got were the smaller standard single wheel fender. I remember there being some larger single wheel fenders at the store but they were way too deep. I upgraded to 175/80r13 and just lifted the fenders to clear and put some 6" baler belt for mud flaps. There are also double...

Anyone know of something like this? Thinking of starting a DIY.

Here's an update, I got tired of the big vent with bulky electric motor and went back to basics. Vent from a house, Lowes number in the pic below Replaced the 1/8 metal screen for fine window screen Screwed it all together and parked where the wind blows through. Kept the car cool during...

HiLift jack: is it really needed?

I agree that the high lift is overly recommended for vehicles and most people probably don't need one. I typically see plenty of people carrying them for the looks though. When I was at the coast this weekend, I saw a bunch of "off-road" vehicles with high lift jacks so rusted up you probably...

    Texas surf fishing trips

I knew good things were coming when it was both smooth and major tides. To get any approximate width I laid the hook remover on its back. Based on that I figure the ray is just a little over 4 feet wing tip to wing tip.

    Insurance

Maintain records including receipts of parts and pictures of the install. In high school my parents even got a discount when I put a brush guard on my truck.

    In the Beginning

I'd still consider a heavy steel bumper. I drive to San Antonio from San Marcos every day and seen what even an empty cardboard box can do to modern vehicles at highway speeds. Too much plastic and thin sheet metal. I also slid into the back end of a truck parked in the fast lane on 35 one time...
