i plan the route well because i try and make a gpx file available to other drivers on the trip. for the camping sites, i may have a particular one in mind, but am open to options we find on the fly in the general area. i learned on a trip this summer that no mater how good your plans are, be...
definately not going alone. i do appreciate the concer though. basically 4 feet of the low side is washed out. the high side is intact to half way across. its about 10 feet wide. i guess we are going to dig the highside bank out to widen the road. no bridge building i hope, just make the road...
we have a trip next weekend that involves a trail that has seen better days. there are some rocky rutty chutes that shouldnt be too bad, but a big washout almost crossing the road will be a bit more ot a challenge. we want to do it saftely and well. any tips or links that you can share? dont...
there are some cool themed collections of geocaches. like one set has 15 or so fire lookouts around bc. all different cachers, but collected in one spot. there are collections for themes like old mines, plane crashes, cool summits, pretty much everything. make your own lists too.
i use an etrex 20. one of the newer ones. i like taking it with me for adventures on foot. super easy to add custom maps using google earth. any .jpg can become a map.
does anyone use a food dehydrator and incorperate that into their meal planning? we do for canoe trips but so far not for truck adventures. could reduce the need for a fridge as large. for the cost of 4 or 5 mountain house meals we bought a dehydrator and make our own. maybe share your favourite...
it was pretty nice when you bought it but you really made it your own. the trailer is an excellent addition too. i laughed when i imagined winter canada driving on 3 different width axles.
depending on how your truck currently sits, you might find some added approach or departure angle by installing a leveling kit instead of a full on lift. it just lifts the front (or rear) to give equal height in the front and back. usually can be done pretty cheaply but you may gain an inch or...
changed my mapping life when i found it too. glad to help you out. the draw function is pretty cool. like google earth but can save to a .gpx without the extra step of conversion.
