I never leave home without my pistol camping or otherwise (Nevada CCW holder). On some trips I bring the .22 for the kids, others the shotgun and some clays. As long as we are staying in Nevada I know I am safe to carry just about whatever I want. If we are crossing into other states I will...
My first dedicated off-road toy was 1984 FJ60. It was SOA on 35's and I loved it. Then I saw a built FJ80 and had to have one. As the build on my 80 near's completion (if there is such a thing) it was time for the FJ60 to find a new home. This has lead to a trade for a 1997 4Runner. I've...
This was a couple weeks ago. It may have gotten burned towards the Woodfords end but I come in from the Nevada side (China Springs Rd.) so I don't see the other end.
I've got the Smittybuilt 2780. Takes a while and gets pretty hot. I usually give it a break after 2 tires. I typically wheel around 12 psi in 35's and like to to get them back up to at least 25 before highway driving (depending on how far from home I am).
I like those! Definitely a Pro/Con situation. Pouring down rain, grab 2 bags and get inside vs. unpacking one big bag. But, one big one could come in handy. Plus its less conspicuous when all your stuff is inside one container...
Picked up 2 of these a while back. Haven't had much chance to test them until last weekend. I wanted gear bags that I could put in the roof rack and not worry about (and also are a little more attractive than the black trash bag method). They're a little pricey but well built and survived a...
Competition coils from Cruiser Outfitters (5" front 4" rear) and the Slee caster correction plates. And some rear work lights. Goes down the road really nice. Can't wait for Rubicon!
@roamingtimber I, personally, love it. It might be a close drag race against a horse drawn cart but it's consistent. Loaded with gear and kids I can still cruise at highway speeds. It does struggle on hill climbs but I'm typically not in a hurried frame of mind when I'm in my 80...
She's back on jack stands... In the process of investing a small fortune into my rig. 4" lift springs, winch, new power outlet in the rear for the fridge, some new lights, new shocks, new seals & bearings in the front axle and new brakes. The fall wheeling/camping season is around the corner!!
Picked this up 2 weeks ago for $1500 (yes, $1500). 1991 FJ80 - Stock except for the rack, the wheels, and the stereo. It now has 35's, a better roof rack, semi de-smogged, Waeco fridge/freezer and a 4 hour detail job to find the carpet. My goal is a long term build to full overland glory...
