Looking forward to spreading the word at an upcoming Overland Rally. 642 miles of Southeastern U.S. backroads and trails should give me plenty of opportunities to promote Overland Bound!!
Thanks for the posts on this build!! My wife and I have decided to go this route. My only concern is losing the function of the bed for everyday use. She wants to set it up like John Burtt's rig, with the truck vault.
There isn't anywhere in the U.S. that you can get away from all forms of natural disasters. It will either be hurricanes, tornados, flooding or something. Just know that when it's your time, it's your time. Live where you get to make the most of life, because none of us will make it out alive...
I will be up there in 2 weeks to run an overland rally. Looking forward to experiencing the back roads of eastern TN.

We live in Southern MS, right on the Gulf Of Mexico. We ( my wife and I) are looking at moving to Eastern TN ( Elizabethton) area. The biggest thing with picking somewhere to move is employment. If you can't find work, then it doesn't matter how nice it is. Good luck with your decision.

Do venders offer special discounts at the Overland Expos? Specifically venders like AT Overland.

I posted a few weeks ago about our team running the Red Clay Rally through Eastern TN into North GA. We had originally had a navigator/passenger riding with me, but he had to back out. We have reached out to family and friends, but being that it is so close, no one has been able to commit. I...
I can't provide any input, but looking forward to hearing what you go with, and your experience with it.

So, any inherent issues with the 04 models? Anything I want to make sure one has on it, option wise?

Thanks for the reply and info. If it doesn't involve a G.M. Product or a Jeep, I'm not up on what quirks to look for.

So, I've found what I think is a good deal on a Land Rover D2, but I know nothing about them. What are some issues and quirks with them that I need to know about? Thanks in advance.

We have two jeeps currently, TJ and JKU. Our JKU is a 2014 and we have had zero issues with it. Not the room that a T4R has, but that suspension is hard to beat off-road. My TJ is a rock crawler, so it doesn't see any overlanding.

As far as rock crawling, we mainly go to Hawk Pride or Stony Lonesome. For hiking/backpacking, we go either to the Smoky Mtns or to the Sipsey Wilderness area in N Alabama
I think 16 years of getting paid to drink coffee has dulled the effects of even the strongest brew. My oldest daughter bought me some Death Wish Coffee. We brewed it per the instructions at work. It was pretty good. Brewed some at home and my wife said she thought her heart was going to explode...
Well I'm a flatlander (south MS), and I only work a few miles from home, so the workday traffic isn't an issue.
