Hey guys. This is (somewhat unfortunately) my third build thread. I keep having to move vehicles around for different reasons, but hopefully this one will be mine for a good while.
It is a 2000 TJ with the 2.8l 4cyl. The motor is not ideal, but it actually performs a lot better than I thought...
Added a new accessory to the Tahoe. Package arrived on Thursday and weighed 7.8 ounces. I can't wait to bring it on some backcountry adventures. :)

For the last couple weeks the motor just hadn't been running quite right. There was some hesitation on acceleration, rough idle, and lack of power. It felt like a fuel delivery issue to me, but I decided to try the easy stuff first.
I cleaned the mass airflow sensor and tested it and the...
I found this push bar for the front for $40 at a garage sale. I was originally planning on going black on the front end, but for $40 I can make chrome work. Gives me some front end protection as well as mounting points for my antennas and lights.
I have also been working pretty hard at getting...
So it was off the our transmission guy! He works on oil rigs as his day job and does motor and transmission work on the side so it took him about 2 weeks to do. He did a great job though and it was finally on the road!
Motor swap day! Went fairly smoothly. It took us two days to do. The only downside was getting all done just to find out that the transmission was bad too.
Here is some pictures from the day I got it. It wasn't it terrible shape really. Needed a lot of cleaning up but a pretty solid truck for $500. I particularly like the wheels a lot. I need one cap, but I dig that old school aluminum wheel look.
First of I just want to say hi! I am from Denver Colorado. I posted once before about my Jeep Commander. I still have that car but it is now my wife's daily. I didn't have a good overland rig for a bit until a couple months ago.
I picked up this 1996 Chevy Tahoe on Craigslist for $500 needing...
Thanks man! I am starting to see more and more modified Commanders. I think they have reached that point in their life when the original owners are starting to let go of them and us off-road guys are starting to pick them up and have some fun with them.
I also love my "Dirty-Tracs". They are...
I am from Northglenn and wheel up past Boulder and down by Idaho Springs quite a bit. A meet up or camping trip this summer would be awesome! Mammoth Gulch is one of my favorite trails in the area.
Well that is where she sits so far. In the near future, I plan to add a push bar, limb risers, LED lighting, a winch, a rear storage solution, rear spare tire carrier, upgraded roof rack with ladder, skid plates...and more. It will probably take me years to do everything but that is the fun of...
I picked up a large waterproof Pelican case at the Goodwill for $10. Can't beat that form some roof gear storage.
I also added some paracord to the grab handles and incorporated a holder for my little Ka-Bar knife in case I need it in a hurry, mainly if I need to cut out of my seatbelt in an...
I wasn't able to get an alignment after the lift do to some bad ball joints and I was stupid and waited way to long to fix them. I ended up wearing out the coopers in only a few months due to the bad alignment. I replaced them with some Goodyear Wrangler Duratracs of the same size and I have to...
