Thanks guys! @GreggNY I wouldn't say they're all marked, but they are all trails within the park. Especially the further out you go, the less markings there are. We did have a paper trail map and if we weren't with a guide we could use GPS to approximate our location and find our way back...
Went out for two days to coal country, USA. Also known as Coal Township, Pennsylvania. First time out there, what an amazing area. We were at Anthracite Outdoor Adventure Area, literally thousands of acres of trails. The first day we were the only ones on the entire 7000-acre property. The...
1978 Cherokee S, and 1980 Aristocraft Nineteen. The Jeep is my daily driver and I manage to get the boat out on the water about once a week. Keeping these two running reliably is almost a full time job!
Thanks, it appears someone rebuilt it recently. Not a spot of rust, but still going to put it up on the lift and inspect more closely, make sure nothing is being covered up. Drives like a dream though, so for now i'm happy!
Around here (NY) it's ALL either private land or government land. There is no more public land. So we just assume it's someone's property and stay off.
Time to sell my '02 XJ because there's a new boss in town
I've used my XJ Cherokee for about a year for semi-serious off-roading but I really wanted a larger vehicle to do expedition-style trips rather than just trail riding, and in a little more comfort too. For me, this is the holy...

Hampster Run (across NH on dirt)
Puppy Dog Route (across VT on dirt)
Trans-Mass Trail (across Massachusetts on dirt)
They're mostly un-maintained public dirt roads, so not really serious off roading, but from what I've read it's still a...
So, I just nabbed this '78 Cherokee (photo below). Been looking for a solid FSJ for a long time, here in the North East it's tough to find. This one looks in great shape, and the price wasn't out of control like some of them are lately. It's across the country so I might actually fly out and...
Haha, this is our big one for the year I think. It's been pretty quiet this winter. I just came back from Florida two days ago too - From 80 degrees and sunny in FL to this mess in NY 12 hours later. At least I have a Jeep!
I'm in NY, dutchess county. Not many places to off-road around here but there's a bunch of dirt roads which are nice. Been thinking of doing the trans-Mass trail. I think there's a trans-Jersey trail too.
