US Southeast Florida Meetup/Meet and Greet

What good areas is everyone up for? I know some decent spots in Ocala, Merritt Island, and Oak Hill. I’ll help setup an event for anyone who is interested and has some ideas.

I did but due to an experience with my then girlfriend/now fiancée the event was scrubbed. It also lead to me being absent on the site. The response for it was good.

I put 9 as the end but I’m up to stay late. If you can make it good and if you can’t and want to do this as a regular thing around different areas to accommodate for everyone we can try that too. I’m game to try anything.

Using rigs during bad weather or natural disasters

We are, got off work this afternoon and they don’t want me back till Thursday at the earliest. We are gonna do some last minute stuff tomorrow and wait it out. This isn’t out first rodeo and sure won’t be our last. This is one of the main reason why I got me a Tacoma, you never know what’s gonna...

It’s gonna cause some major damage here even is the eye doesn’t make landfall. My and my family are ready to head to our fallback zone if need be. We are expecting to lose power.

Also if you have flooding issues like my girlfriends house does dog drainage canals to make life easier. I just spent a day doing that and defrosting meat to cook tomorrow so nothing in the main fridge goes to waste.

If your a Floridian you should have some of that stuff year round. I’m amazed at some people. Went to Tractor Supply this morning for a tow strap and they are cleaned out of tarps, tools, bags and gas cans. Walmart was cleaned out of ramen but not canned beans or canned meat.

Snake Shot: Do you use it for your trail/camp gun when overlanding?

I personally only carry snake shot in my 357 when kayaking. I alternate between that and a hollow point. On land I carry a 1911 in 10mm. I’ve had some experiences with hogs charging me and others in a hunting party. A rifle with shitty shot placement didn’t even phase it. That 10 knocked it on...

That’s kinda implied, plus a fresh sweet potato pie. Or maybe some fresh venison chili. Don’t get me started on whole hog cooked dinners. Hurricane party here we come!

For us we live by fresh water areas so the high the category the more crawfish traps to put out to prep, can’t beat a crawfish boil when the power is out. Other than that it’s either spam, canned tuna, or a lot of rice.

Because people down here are in a fantasy that a hurricane will never hit or be bad. I hear it every year from new people moving down her or disillusioned residents. You always need to be prepared for a worst case scenario when we get hit almost every year by something.

I just had to top up my truck, helped my father haul wood for his fence he is building for his windows. Then he’s gonna use it as a privacy fence alone the metal fence on the back side of his property. Now it’s just to wait it out while passing around my new bottle of Jameson

It seems it’s Mad Max time, most of the gas stations by me are out. Lucky I got some at a handy way in a small town near me

I was just wondering if I am the only one to have a detailed SHTF and others inputs on severe weather other members areas.
