I saw a recent video a few weeks ago. I don't think it's really any worse, I think it just got more popular and people who have no idea what they're doing are having trouble on it.
The fun way is from Union Springs Road, which features a handful of technical areas. I've taken my FJ Cruiser on 33s without issue and I would love to run through there again sometime.
You should set one up!
I'm really wanting to get into a hard shell to simplify setting up and breaking camp, but the Smitty has been fantastic. I haven't looked to see what was "new" in the clamshell tent world in a couple years, but glancing around the ol' interwebs just now, the Tuff Stuff Trailhead looks like the...
I'm wrapping up 4 years with my Smittybilt tent. It has been great. I spent as little as I could to start off with because I wasn't certain just how often I'd be able to get out and take advantage of it, but I've averaged about 3 weeks a year living out of my rig, riding trails and exploring...
I've considered placing brackets for the awning on each side so it can be easily moved. I've also considered just having two awnings. With the rooftop tent open though, that does give me partial coverage on the side opposite the large awning, and I have a small awning on the rear as well...
On the beaches I visit, the rules are that you park facing the dunes. I tried mine on both sides and used the one that provided the most shade. The photos below were taken at the same time of year around the same time of day. Check out the shadow.
My comment was based on the first post in this thread. I don't think a Tucson is the right tool either, but it's what the OP has been working with and is of a mind to keep on the road. I was suggesting that maybe his adventures have progressed to the point he needs something more capable...
I haven't followed this thread, but yes, I'm for Constitutional carry whereby being able to legally own a firearm is all the permission you need to carry whatever you like wherever you go - per the Second Amendment.
I am completely against special rights for select government employees. I...
Same for me. I just stretch the truth and tell people I'm at a spot "nearby" that everybody already knows about. Please check out Flagpole Knob. :sunglasses:
I thought I didn't like to travel. Turns out I just don't like to travel the way most people do. I hate being crammed in some metal tube with wheels or wings, shoulder to shoulder with strangers. But when I'm in my own vehicle, with my own music, stuff, and schedule ...well, I could go...
I just used Virgina Beach as an approximation. I'm a bit further west and more like halfway between the Dismal Swamp and the coast - the worst of both worlds! lol
Unless they get wet and stay wet, these tents are incredibly resistant to mildew. I did have a slight leak on my original cover. I...
One thing I don't understand is why people go to the trouble of installing and removing a rooftop tent. Maybe I'm spending more time in mine, but from the time I get home from one trip to the time I'm ready for another is minimal - often as little as two weeks. My tent has been on top of my FJ...
