I'm ready to start planning a fall trip. I just went down to Elk City Reservoir and found an excellent "alternative" camping site. My CJ is still in the rebuild process, but I camped in the truck topper this weekend and it was great! So I'm thinking camp, hike and fish. Anybody up for a late...
I've been MIA since we had our kids a year ago. I see light at the end of the tunnel. Hope maybe I can get back at it this fall. In the mean time, I've been honing my offroad skills up at Tuttle Creek on occasion. Let me know if anyone is up for a ride.
Followup: After some research it appears this road was legally still an open right of way. Which is where the problem lies. Sometimes these roads fall so far out of disrepair (or the local kids cause so many problems) that the adjacent land owners decide no one needs to go down that road. We...
I was out exploring today and came upon what looked like an open, through road. I checked Google Maps and made a judgement call based on what I saw. I will admit, the road was iffy. I got 1/2 mile down when I hit the fence. It became obvious I was probably somewhere I shouldn’t be. I turned...
I think we start small. I love the idea of just grabbing some food somewhere. Maybe we link up and drive to Stong City. Meet up with BikeHauler at the Ad Astra? Just a day trip. I also enjoy a little wrenching. It seems to develop some decent comradery. I have a nice shop and most tools...
Maybe we could meet up and plan a fall trip. I've never really been excited about one of those 20+ rig caravans though. In an open top Jeep down gravel roads with 80+ tires kicking up dust. . ..
The hells of old Jeeps. I'd love to be rid of this CJ. It's never going to be practical. Even as a toy. But I have $4500 invested and it MIGHT be worth $3500. Maybe someday the kids will be into it.
I would love to get away. However, we're adopting and having our own baby in the next 3 months. If we could do a local meetup and maybe head up to Olsberg, I'd be game.
If you have your passport, you could tour the Tallgrass prairie preserve just north of Pawhuska Oklahoma on the Osage Indian reservation. Bring the wife and you could take her to the pioneer woman store in Pawhuska.
