Looking to throw a bachelor party/camp trip and we wanted to check out slab city. Does anyone know if that area NE of the Salton sea is public lands? Is there any good camping near the mountains out there? I know there is a red canyon jeep trail and the old trestle Bridge.
Mine is not a silverado but close. K2500 Suburban 2in lift on 33's. she makes a solid camping truck and back roads explorer. She wont do the Rubicon but there is a lot of other dirt roads to explore.

I second the Suburban recommendation. The 2500 would be the one to get though, much stronger and more reliable drivetrain. The 5.3l, 6.0l, 6.2l chevy motors are bullet proof and rival the Toyotas in reliability. highly recommended
We are making a day trip to Frank Raines OHV on January 20th. we plan on meeting at the chevron on Sperry rd. off of I-5 at 10 am. Im not familiar with the park or any routes there so unless we get an trail leader that has been there before ill just have to explore the place.

for me and my family I chose the Suburban K2500. We are a family of 4 and 2 little dogs. On our 1 nighter trips we can all sleep inside the truck and for our week long trips I can take all the gear and still have room. I went with the 2500 because I wanted the beefier transmission and axles...
